**Wow. Don’t you think this is kinda silly? We’re guessing based on previous challanges how a team will do. I really think this isn’t a good idea. **

No one is predicting anything as far as I can tell it seems to bee just a pat on the back to those who have done well in the past.

This isnt even so much a showing of what are known as -good- teams, but more what teams are best known to the FIRST community. I know so many teams that are excellent, but they are not known because they dont post on CD, they didnt seed well, they havent won regionals, etc. And as much as I want to toot my own horn, im not gonna:D

Cory

I would like to see some of those rookie teams from last year really get something impressive. Our team was also a rookie team last year, and this year we actually have a nearly completed design, as opposed to last year, where we were just started thinking about what we wanted our robot to do.

I think a lot of rookie teams from last year will actually figure out what they need to do to succeed, and I predict quite a few teams doing well that nobody has ever heard of, even though some may deserve notice (like team 753, who won the Seattle regional last year)

Anyway, I predict that there will not be a traditional “powerhouse” on the winning alliance at the championship this year.

OK here’s my faves for this year

151 (they always build strong, tough bots)
190
173 (RAGE!! what else is there to say)
I hear 229 has something up their sleeve
The titans (358?? i’m not good with numbers, they showed their strength in NYC last year, and i think it will carry over to this season)

In any annual competition, you have to make a name for yourself. This year is our year. Look out for team 998. We will be the one in the corner with no “snazzy” giveaways or gimics. You will know who we are by our robot. Just cringe when you see us on the other side of the glass…

**what would make you say that? oh now i remember. all those victories against you guys. **

Pleasure to hear from you Ricksta121. Missed you there for a while. Don’t worry we will see you guys I believe in Manchester which if I remember correctly someone was thrown in the corner for the duration of the championships. I look forward to see you guys across the field let “Stack Attack Begin Baby!”

yea you are right matt, 151 will be tough this year…hehehe… you will find out whats up our sleeve shortly;) :yikes:

Nope, nothing special this year. It sounds like we’ll be downright boring. No one should pay us any mind…

This isn’t the robot your looking for

You’re not looking for this robot either, :stuck_out_tongue:

of course there are teams with solid histories… and i think this thread is good for rookies to get an idea of some of the teams that they need to be sure to scout… we all know 71 will probably have something insane… but there will most certainly be some new teams, or underdog teams that will crawl up from the shadows and bite those who did not scout them properly because they were prematurely fixated on another team… so make sure you overlook noone this year

and those of you feeling a little left out because you are not in the spotlight… trust me sometimes its better when nobody is paying attention to you… if everyone considers you a threat they will spend an excessive amount of time trying to come up with a way to take you down

of course 222 and 303

we may not have done that well last year, but two years ago we had a great year, so just watch out for 177

237 will probably be a threat too, as they always are

and 173 will use the same basic end effector that they have been using for who knows how long (not meant to be taken as an insult, just an observation)

No no. You see, the plan is to appear nonthreatening.

Well, at least you have a plan. Which is more than I can say for most rookie teams I assume!!!

Observation time,

with a few exceptions, teams have posted that teams are only putting teams in their region of the country…

Just pointing out the obvious

I think I know the reason to that DJ.
At the Nationals it is really hard to get noticed. You essentially get lost in the crowd unless you have a really noticable gimmick. The team’s you see the most are obviously the team’s at the regional events that you attend, which are more likely than not close to your region. So therefore you have a whole weekend to see how well the teams near you do as opposed to a weekend to see how the other hundreds of teams do at Nationals.
Also you have to factor in the mini comp aspect. You tend to see local teams even more at the mini comps as well, so you begin to see patterns in their competitive behavior and see how durable they are as a team.

As absurd as this thread is I have to include 639. They were tough last year and I can only see them getting better. We’ll see you guys up in Toronto. Good luck!

Or, themselves,

If, someone told me to watch out for them, i wouldn’t be as worried about teams who brag about themselves

All the teams that I would have said have been said, except for one.

It’s hard enough making the elims at nationals 3 years in a row, but they’ve done it in thier first 3 years of existence.
