Easiest way to achieve climb (ENSEMBLE) rank point

What is going to be the easiest way you guys think to achieve the symphony (chain climbing) rank point?

If we just include the minimum requirement of 2 robots climbing, then having 2 robots harmonized while having a 3rd one parked gets you to 9 pts. Then either the trap or the spotlight to get you over 10 pts. If all 3 can climb, then just harmonizing 2 of them and climbing with the third gets you 11 pts.

Changed the title of the thread to use the correct wording.

thank you

I don’t believe parking points counts towards the stage points required for ensemble

They do, they’re classified as stage points

Technically, couldn’t one robot pickup both of it’s teammates?

technically yes. however how realistic this is is another question altogether

I don’t think we’ll see many buddy climbs this year. They were more common in games where climbing space was limited (2018, 2019, 2020 a bit). This is not the case this year, each robot has its own chain this time.
You could say that this has an advantage because that way you’d need to spotlight fewer chains, but it’s not significant enough IMO.

In theory yes. But if you want HARMONY points, you need to have 2 robots suspended from the same chain.

A “buddy climb” would be one way to accomplish that.

True, forgot about that.

don’t both robots get harmony points? In that case just double climbing would get the RP

I think the harmony bonus is per pair. So both robots climb, 6 pts, and then an additional 2 pts as a bonus, that gets you to 8.

yes on the rule manual right above 6.5.3 it says harmony points are given per additional robot meaning 4 extra points in addition to the 6 for the climb which gets you 10

so these are two conflicting responses…

I don’t think the 1st robot counts as an additional robot. The second robot is the “additional” one. If you can get all 3 on the same chain, then that would be 4.

Relying on both teammates being able to climb is quite a gamble. We are going into it, hoping we can all climb, but not counting on it and at that point a hatch is required. Our goal is 2 climbs and a hatch placement for the rp.

The wording “per additional robot” seems to be the point of contention here. If it said “per robot”, then I would say that’s 6+4 points for a 2-robot climb (or 9+6 for 3 robot climb). But per additional means you need something to start with, which I would think is the original 1-robot climb, leading us to 6+2 (or 9+4).

By far the most common way to get the Ensemble RP will be a robot which can climb itself and score in the TRAP. That’s 8 points for itself, plus the minimum 3 needed by one more climber.

This requires nothing of a 3rd robot.
I’m not sure how easy 2 robots on 1 chain will be, but even if you can manage that, it’s still not 10 without a 3rd robot climbing.

is there any rules prohibiting buddy climbs like 148 in 2018 and 1678 in 2020? I’m not sure if a single piece of hook tape can be called a major mechanism. then there’s the rules about reaching into other people’s frame perimeters, and stuff about entangling, but those rules seem to specifically mention opponent bots.
