how important will it be for drivers to be able to change game plans?
It is ridiculously important. I am calling this to be the most volatile, shifting game that I have ever seen. When you make a row over someone else’s row there is a 23 point swing. They lose 10, you gain thirteen. If that happens to your team(s) you MUST be able to recoup damages to the score by switching plans.
I don’t know guys. In my opinion, I’m sort of disappointed at how simple the field and game elements are this year…the game itself seems a bit TOO simple. Game plans are most likely going to be shifted constantly though, because there are many factors that can affect the scoring.
i think that the driver is going to have to listen to his coach and shift on a fly to change plans. that third robot makes the game more complex then just two robots. and the rows help with complex
There is alot the driver must be able to do and he/ she cannot do it alone,
The communication between the driver the arm operator the coach the human player and not to mention the other two teams will be extremely important. Anything can happen in 2 mins and the driver that can best deal with these situations will be successful.
I think along with co ordinating and listening to their coach, they will also have to listen to the other 2 teams in their alliance. It is critical for teams to work together with a changing plan to make rows in your alliance. You have only 2 mins as a driver to score points by listening to your coach, and co ordinating with your alliance.
I think this year your going to have three play modes
- The Back Row Robot - defends the back row and caps a volume of tetras on these
- Center Goal Guy- He caps and defends the center goal
- Row Capper - focuses on one tetra rather than a large volume, and goes to enemy’s side capping the top of each goal
With 3 different robots on your team your going to have to constantly move between two or even three of these qualities and your ability to adapt will be the most important thing (till its time to pick allainces really)
