EduRobot parts on real robots?

question…

what is the ruling on using edurobot parts on the real FIRST robots this year? i know the OI is for use on the real robot but besides that… what else?

would be kinda kewl to be able to use the issac 16 along with the other controller >>: )

My guess is no, but we’ll have to wait until Jan 4 to find out for sure.

BTW, why would you want both controllers? I think it would be cool to have a choice between the two as the EduRC is much smaller and easier to tuck in small corners of the robot, plus it doesn’t need a separate radio. On the other hand, for those teams that actually need 16 digital inputs and 8 analogs, I think they should still be allowed to use the regular RCs.

The word back at the team forum was no…however, between then and now, that may have chanegd…we’ll find out in a couple weeks…

the reason for bolth controllers is that it would boost the kewlness factor of the robot tenfold… more blinky lights.
also for more digital and analog inputs, you can have 1 analog chan on the main controller interfacing to the analog input on the secondary one, and vice versa so they could talk, and add to your digital and analog I/O’s

But what radio channel would the extra RC use? And you would probably need two OIs!

You might be able to get by without a 2nd OI, but I doubt it. The RC MIGHT be able to operate in autonomous mode without a corresponding OI, but how would it know whether it was enabled or disabled?

exactly, you operate the second one in autonomus mode or set bolth to the same team number and change the serin to read from a Digital input instead of the radio, setting it up as a slave
and getting oodles more Digital/analog input ^___^

normally, you wouldnt need this many inputs… but Aftershock is coming out with yet another control innovation (Shhhhhh!) and if they dont allow the custom electronics kit, (highly unlikely) we may need to use the issac 16

Uberkewl!
