To my admittedly poor eyes, it seemed like 254 had 4 cargo in its possession for at least 3-4 seconds during auto, yet their alliance received no penalties and won the match by 1 point. Am I reading the rules incorrectly, it seems pretty open and shut.

It’s called a robot competition Michael, we went robot driving.
HR presumably:
“It’s called a robotics competition, okay?”
“We went robot driving”
You MUST reinstate the last match!
I’ve called the boys in back - confirmed to be a magnitude 9 bruh moment.
Looks correct to me, but at this point i doubt they will go back and do anything about it.
Honestly i found it interesting that they were being so lenient, earlier in the season i saw multiple teams get almost instantly flagged for it in auto despite the already set “momentary = 3s” qualifier…
this thread will be a fun one
I just timed it, got a bit under 8 seconds of >2 cargo possesion.
A red robot also shot 3 just into teleop.
And then later in teleop 254 picks up 4 cargo and shoots 3 at a time.
There was one penalty assessed on Red in the match. Not sure what for. But if it was for carrying extra cargo and they missed the two times that Blue did it that’s kinda rough.
Well this thread will be fun…
They definitely had were controlling 3 cargo in their bot for about 5s
Because this involves video, and knowing how FIRST treats video review, and the fact that this is champs, I highly doubt anything will come of this. Do note though that FIRST has revoked wins after the fact in the past, most noticeably in 2013 at the Central Washington Regional (albeit it did not involve video review). Here is a blog post Frank made about it: FRC Blogged - Doing the Right Thing (link rot got to the original blog but the transcript is in the cd post).
I counted a whole 7 Mississippis of >2 cargo control. Very curious if FIRST will take action on this (but I doubt it).
This kinda stinks.
Why doesn’t FIRST allow video review, again?
Like it or not, teams that win champs push things.
It bothered me early on when people started taking advantage of the grace period for holding the balls. But it’s the way the rules were written, so there is really no argument about that.
As for holding too many balls for too long, it’s no different than traveling in the NBA or holding in the NFL. If it wasn’t called it wasn’t called.
Congratulations to the new champs. I’m SO glad knight vision was there.
This might be a dumb question, but what grace period? Seems pretty clear to me that per G403 they should’ve had three fouls, and probably given a yellow card. Is there something I’m missing?
Define “MOMENTARY”.
Answer: about 3 seconds. IIRC, that’s in Section 6.
This gif is perfection.
Yes. The refs have 5 sets of eyes vs thousands (with the benefits of video review). This stuff happens.
