I’ll throw in the obligatory…if you don’t know how to do this, you might be better served with a COTS elevator. There are a bunch on the market.
Thrifty elevator and Greyt elevator are mature designs that have been battle tested the past few years. The Andymark elevator is new, but is neat that you can run in cascade or continuous depending on how you do the rigging.

I would try looking at the NASA RAP Robotics Design Guide. They have most common mechanisms in there, including elevators.
