Encoders

Hey everybody, I thought you might enjoy an inexpensive absolute encoder option; the AMS 5048 produces PWM output, and it’s available in a sort of “evaluation board” for about $15 direct or via Digikey, Mouser, etc. Using a 3d-printed case and solder-wire-to-board (:frowning:) we integrated these sensors into our WCP Legacy SwerveX modules, and it all seems to be working fine wired directly to RoboRIO DIO and using the WPI DutyCycleEncoder class. Cases available at Grabcad. It doesn’t matter which version of the 5048 you use: they both produce PWM.
