Engineering Teacher Position, Vanden HS, CA

Vanden High School, located in Fairfield, CA, home of FRC/VRC Team 701, the RoboVikes, is looking for an engineering teacher to take over their multi-year pathway program. The current teacher is retiring and I’ve taken on a job at the local college. In the past five years, we worked with the district to update a lot of the facility. We have a new 32 station CAD Lab, 10 3D printers, 3 Haas CNC machines, 1 4x8 CNC router, 2 laser cutters, welding station, and a variety of shop equipment for metal and wood working.

Vanden High School is located adjacent to Travis AFB. Approximately 25% of our students are military, the rest come from the communities of Vacaville, Fairfield, and Suisun City. The school district is very committed to supporting this engineering program. The district has after school robotics at each elementary school in the district (5), and at the middle school (1). So the program will have a steady stream of interested and prepared students to enter this program. They even offer a coaching stipend for robotics at all three levels (elementary, middle, and high school). I think the high school coaching position is about $5000.

Requirements for the position do include having a Calif. Designated Subjects credential in Engineering (or at least the ability/experience to get one).

I plan on continuing on as a mentor/coach for the team and will support the new hire as needed.

Here’s the posting, the application due date is Feb. 2, so apply soon if you’re interested!

I know it’s build season… but just a reminder that the application due date for this position is this Friday!
