There’s nothing in the rules that says you HAVE to have bumpers!!
If you don’t like them, think they’re sissy, you don’t have to put them on your robot!!
It’s simply an OPTION FIRST is opening to teams that may have a disadvantage in experience (aka Rookies) so they have more of a chance and don’t get broken robots so easily!
It seems there’s just a lot of complaints about bumpers as if they were a requirement… if you can do it without them, more power to ya, but FIRST is just opening more doors…go with it…

I doubt that our team (#74) will use bumpers, but hopefully, rookie teams will. We play by the rules and we play to win.
Team #74 The HOTHEADS, have been around for six years now and we know the importance of making ‘tank tough’ 'bots. All of our functional parts will be built for agressive, effective, action-packed competition.
We don’t need no pitty-patty bumpers!

Do bumpers mean bumpers stickers?
I brake for potentiometers? Late night pizza? Robotics competitions? Floppies? (oh, wait, that was last year!)
