Entering Minute Maid Park

Many teams are having trouble entering Minute Maid Park. The lines for bag check are hardly moving at all, at least at the entrance near Avenida de Las Americas. Many teams are hoping they don’t have to go back to their hotels, but some students are starting to get dehydrated in the sun. What are our options? Are the other entrances faster?

We’ve been in line for 2 hrs. It’s 4:00 now (matches starting). We estimate we’re at least an hour away from entry.

Complete screw up on FIRST’s part.

The Right Field entrance on the southeast side has a slightly smaller line- not by much though. Seems like very poor organization from FIRST.

At this rate, matches won’t start until 4 PST.

Also, apparently the Newton drive teams are also getting held up at security.

Teams going to Houston CMP should remember all of this when they send out the survey.

Watching the livestream. No indication that matches are about to start. Seems like they’re showing people in the stands dancing to stall for time.

Matches have not started

I hope they aren’t waiting for this crowd to make it in. I bet there are people out here now who won’t be in by 7:00.

I’m hearing from friends present that people waiting in line are getting dehydrated and heat stroke.

This is NOT okay.

We headed back to the hotel to watch the live stream. It’s an utter shame as it was my first worlds. Hopefully there is some change for next year because this can not happen again.

We gave up… waited in line sweating for 45 mins and didn’t move… they were letting people in through our gate at a rate of 6-7 per minute… we did a quick calculation that it would take about 2 hrs to get in… ridiculous and an absolute let down. We raised $30k to get 30 kids to this event and couldn’t get them into the finale. I’m am so dissapointed in FIRST right now.

Pathetic.
We are 100 from metal detectors and we have moved 25 meters in last hour.
There’s at least 200m of people behind us.

I estimate 4,000 people outside as of 30 minutes ago, and a grand total of 12 metal detectors for entry. Even at an optimistic rate of 5 seconds per person per metal detector that’s at least another half hour before all are inside. Right Field entrance is the shortest line at about 150ft

It’s more like 2-3 people a minute per metal detector

They’re starting matches.

Even as someone watching from home, this is really disappointing. I’m sensing we will all rue the day the Rams moved to Los Angeles. It’s becoming easy to appreciate what St. Louis had to offer.

We had a student who became ill and almost passed out due to dehydration. In addition to that we also had a student on crutches that the venue refused to accommodate. He was forced to stand or sit outside the entire time without even a wheelchair which they refused to provide him. They wouldn’t let him in early either. Horrible planning is an understatement.

And once you’re lucky enough to get in it makes the wait not even seem worth it. It’s extremely difficult to see the field and the camera feed changes from terrible angle to terrible angle. Divisions were great but I could not be more disappointed with my last world championship Einstein experience.

Camera work is fine. It jumps a lot but otherwise I think people are overreacting. People complain for the full field view but you can’t see half the field in full field view due to airships and people moving in front of it.

Well actually, that’s another issue.

We had a few adults and students stuck at another entrance that missed the first match. They ended up just letting everyone through without having to go through the metal detectors it sounds like.

How’s about the fact that the lowest that the speakers have been is 85 decimals.
