Error trying to get Shuffleboard or SmartDashboard running

I am trying to get either Shuffleboard or SmartDashboard (I don’t really care which at this point) to open. I found the jar files for them in a folder, C:\Users\Public\frc2019\tools but it looks likes the DS is trying to go to, C:\Users\Nathan\Desktop%PUBLIC%\frc2019\tools\SmartDashboard.vbs (same location for Shuffleboard with the changed filename).

I’m not having any problems pushing code to my robot-on-a-board, but can’t get the DS to show either viewer so that I can start working on feedback stuff.

This is the error window that pops up:
SmartDashboard%20Failing%20to%20Start

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? I have tried to change the entry in the “FRC DS Data Storage.ini” file to point at the correct location, but the DS overwrites that immediately.

It’s a known issue with the current software, just open the SmartDashboard/Shuffleboard from the desktop icon: https://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/currentCS/m/getting_started/l/1028964-known-issues

Yeesh, I didn’t realize that there were more WPI icons on my desktop mixed in with the clutter. I’m in business.

Thanks!

Also see this note on how to make it work directly from the driver station by changing the default command.

This is what I was referring to as also not working when I changed the command in the INI file. The DS was just changing it right back as soon as it was opened and then giving the same error as my OP. Opening them manually from the desktop has worked though.

Yeah, I’m having the same problem, except that there are no icons on the desktop. Any solutions?

Did you run the wpilib installer?

Yeah, I ran it twice. It’s strange, because it worked on another laptop.

Yes, we still have the same problem after the update to the new WPILib 2019.2. So, there appears to be a script someplace that’s doing this based on the error message that pops up.

the problem is with the driver station. You need the lab view update not the wpilib update.

Is there a Labview update? I don’t see one on their site.

It was mentioned in 2019 Team Update 04
