Event Averages

I got a request for field averages, and I had these stats hanging around.
No promises, so let me know if I got something wrong and I’ll correct it.
I threw away bad data, such as you get when running matches through lunch or for field replays, so different people using different criteria will get slight variations in results.

Typical caveats apply: different events aim for different cycle times, so without knowing the target it’s hard to say which field reset crews/drive teams/queuers were more efficient. Larger attendance means more opportunities for delays, later events had a gradually increasing % of experienced teams.
Things like Max Cycle can indicate the lengths gone to for getting robots connected, or a Cotton-Eyed Joe break called to purposely slow things down.
Qual/Elim scores are affected by the amount of defense played at an event, etc.

Wow… Didn’t realize how competitive WI has gotten compared to everyone else. We always thought WI was the easier option when compared to Midwest. Guess that isn’t true anymore.

Well WI and Midwest did effectively get split this year due to scheduling.

Yeah they were during the same week. But the high profile teams we’ve gotten in the past, like 111, chose Midwest. You would have thought the numbers would have gone the opposite direction.

Wow…look at the huge increase in averages for Week 7 compared to previous weeks. Also, it’s nice to see fairly consistent field reset times all across the board.

FLR was higher than I actually thought it was going to be.

Very glad to see that. It’s always been my favorite regional.

Definitely a change needing to happen for future years.

Here are the three places Team 2410 competed at, isolated from the rest of the data. I must say, Greater Kansas City is rapidly becoming a powerhouse regional for a week 1 event. It’s been a great honor to watch this rise, and I still have one more GKC to attend as a student!
Oklahoma, well, guess it leaves a little to be desired after attending GKC. Young in age, the regional is. Greatness in it’s future, I see.
Archimedes. That’s where it’s at St. Louis. A full 6 points above the rest for eliminations. It was truly inspiring to compete there this year, and watch the court fill up with such amazing teams. I was most certainly wrong in my predictions, and couldn’t be more happy that I was. The game on Archimedes was at a whole new level.

Kudos to the crew at the Chesapeake regional for having the fastest field reset time. I had the pleasure of attending the event last year, and I have to say, it was one of the best managed regionals I’ve seen. Im glad to see it shows in the numbers

Also, the spike in scores from week 1-6 to week 7 and the champs is amazing…

Waterloo actually ran early most of the matches, which lead to some interesting stalling tactics between matches. The field reset always ran fast but the MC, Karthik, spent a while anouncing teams.

Correct me if im wrong but CVR had the highest average elimination score out of all the regionals and districts? (not counting any types of championships)

If so that’s very cool. Especially for a first year regional.

Almost like it was a California State Championship, eh?

Almost. Not quite. See the stats for the FiM and MAR championships, particularly the average qualifying match scores. Imagine how much stronger California teams would be at CMP if they played qualification schedules as strong as those at the FiM and MAR championships.

[shameless plug]
I noticed both BMR (Indiana event) and QCR (practically overrun with Indiana teams) led their weeks in efficiency, average qual score, and top three in elim scores.
Twelve IN teams went to CMP; three of them played in division elims. I had high hopes for Indiana teams playing a basketball game; the data here shows me that across the board, top to bottom, we were pretty proficient.
A lot of attention is going to our friends in Michigan, MAR, Ontario, California, Texas, and Florida, but I believe Indiana and the surrounding area is on the upswing.
[/shameless plug]

How dose the scheduling work? It would be cool see how the event averages from year to year and if there is any change in the averages. I do that the Midwest can still be competitive if the both regional are split.
