Event Calendar

Hey everyone. I am one of the webmasters for the Sie-H20-Bots web-site, found at http://www.team237.com and I was wondering if anyone knows where i can go, a web-site maybe, where i can get the code or just get an event calendar for the site. We are looking for something good, and different than the one we have on there now. It would be greatly appreciated if someone would please get back to me on this subject.

I’m not sure what exactly you mean, since almost all event calendars (as far as i know) look just like the one you have…but try here

Hey look at my calander at http://dez250.shorturl.com if that is what you are looking for i can get you the code and can help you set it up. Also it has a few other options that arent present in my website.

Mike, that is exactly what im looking for! If you could please e-mail me at [email protected] with the code and how to set it up and anything else i need to know about it, i would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, thank you to Raven_Writer for the great site. Many good ideas there too.

Hey Mike,

Can you make the days have data on the days themself like our example on our site, or is it just set-up to make the date clickable and you have to “click to see an event”?

Either way works. It’s really customizable. You can also have it work both ways I believe.

I was looking for the same type of thing. If you could pm me to give me an idea of what’s involved with setting it up, maybe I will use it. I will also look on some other websites for some. I would need one that shows the information on one screen with no clicking aloud. (unless it is done a certain way) This could be used on one of my websites with resources for the blind and visually handicapped. They use a program that reads the screen out loud so if each date was a link, it would read “11th blah blah blah…12th link h…t…t…p…:…/…/…w…w…w…dot…something…dot…com…/…something…
/…cal…dot…a…s…p…pound…cal…?..something” and so on. If you want to listen to it, and it has a voice of someone talking extremely slow with no expressions. Well anyways, I’m going off on a tangent. If you have a little time let me know what is involved. I don’t need all the code since if I do use it, I won’t be doing it for a little while, like several weeks and maybe a few months. Thanks.

I have a really nice calendar hack that I installed on my xmb forum. www.team696.org/forum/calendar.php

With a very minimal amount of tweaking, I suppose you could eliminate the whole forum part of it and use it just as a calendar. But I see that you already have a phpBB so you would have to know how to set up another database.

You should also check and see if there are any calendar hacks for your phpBB.

Where would you find these calendar add ons for the phpBB2 forum?

A quick search revealed two of them.
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/viewhack.php?id=152
and
http://www.snailsource.com/forum/dlman.php?func=select_folder&folder_id=1

You may also want to check phpBB • Modifications

If you attempt to install any hacks, make sure you have the current versions of your forum files backed up on your home computer, and download a databse backup off your server through CPanel (or whatever you have) BEFORE YOU START ANYTHING. A lot of the times a hack installation will not work right the first time and has the potential to totally screw up your board. I would read every post in the phpBB forums about what you are doing before you try to do it.

THe best place to look would be www.phpbb.com. If you can’t find anything (that you are looking for) there, go to Google.

Sanddrag, I installed the hack no problem, but the thing is, how do i get the link to show in the header? Also, i can’t see how you can add events to the calendar, even though i have the permission through calendar Config on the lowest level.

I sent you a PM on here.

I wrote a calendar script for our site…It’s in PHP and uses text files. It also has some extras that integrate with the rest of the site and highlights the information if it pertains to you. Email me if you’d like to check it out: [email protected].
