2nd round is live!

For your 2nd round, did you get your:

  • First Choice
  • Second Choice

  • Waitlisted, filled all 6
  • Waitlisted, didn’t fill all 6
  • I didn’t get anything!

How many weeks apart are your (non-DCMP/CMP) events?

  • My events are back to back
  • I have 1 weekend between my events
  • I have 2 weekends between my events
  • I have 3 or more weekends between my events
  • I am competing in 3 regional or district events
  • I am 359 or 1622 and am competing in 4 or more regional or district events
  • I am only competing in one event

I would say it went poorly. I have 3 FRC teams and none of them got into their second round event. So according to probability that seems to be an error. Since there are only 140 teams in the district, and assuming they all are not vying for the same event, It seems there is an error in the system.

Not sure if it happened before round 2 closed or not, but we’re off the waitlist for NYC! Waitlisted again for HVR though, hopefully we get in sooner than we did last year…

Doubled our waitlists!

Not looking good for my team. I don’t choose what events we go to but I do know we wanted Western NE. Either our mentor didn’t choose in time or we didn’t get in. Looking like probably a waitlist or a two hour drive week one for Southern Maine. :person_facepalming:

Gambled adding a 2nd preference after waitlist on 1st pick and got back-to-back events :upside_down_face:

The loss of two MA events this year is definitely making the schedule hard for everyone, forcing teams to play back to back weekends or do overnight trips.

Looks like currently every event is at 31 teams except Southern Maine week 1 (28 teams), Pine Tree Maine week 3 (25 teams), and VT week 5 (17 teams). No surprise these are the open spots as they’re the furthest event for most teams.

Do you think they’ll open up the events for more teams later?

On waitlist for Wisconsin, didn’t get into either Wisconsin or Seven Rivers, both of our local regionals. We can’t attend the other nearby regional of Phantom Lakes due to spring break, so the waitlist game commences.

Most NE events last year had a capacity of 36 IIRC and many are staying in the same venue, so I would guess 5 spots will be filled.

For round 2 we put in for an event that had space left and we requested to be waitlisted if need be, but instead we got put in our next choice after that (our home AZ north event)
Weren’t even waitlisted.

Hoping that we can squeeze into a third event, we were trying to get a week 4 event while space in them was still open, then get our home event last, we’ll see how it goes

We got incredibly lucky and got our first choice. I had only put down 3 as the others were travel events or had a wait-list already. Not sure what ‘order’ we got in the draft as round 1 we stuck with our ‘home event’

We also were able to get the events at the beginning and end of March with 2 full off weekends between.

We got our 5th choice which is a week four.

Our home event is week 5, so that means if we make it to States, we will have 3 weekends in a row of competitions. Not ideal, but that’s why we made our possible week 4’s our 5th and 6th choices.

Not great, but at least we don’t have to travel very far.

I just hope that we will be able to get a 3rd regional
Not sure how many “reserve” spots are left at any of the events that it would be feasible for us to go to

adding onto this, I discuss my thoughts on general New England as a whole in this post overall >25% NE is in a really poor situation

We got our (technically) 3rd choice, but I answered the poll as 1st choice, because the first two events we preferenced in round 2 were already at capacity from round 1, so we listed them on a “just in case lightning strikes” basis, then listed our highest preference non-full event as 3rd (and put that as our waitlist event, indicating it was our actual first “reasonable” preference).

I know a lot of teams are disappointed in their schedule, but I think we did okay and are happy with our individual team’s outcome.

NE has 31% of their teams that are waitlisted right now. Unfortunately that also means my team. Oh boy…

Both my teams 6004 and 6242 got both of our event choices we were hoping for with Week 2 FNC Catawba County Event and Week 4 FNC Pitt County event. Leaving DCMP in week 6 as well as we plan to host a Week 0 scrimmage at our new workspace.

We requested Aerospace Valley as #1 and somehow(I know most likely its full) ended up in the Contra Costa regional. We’re the only SoCal Team at the event so far.

“Somehow” being that AVR is FULL, maybe?

We had AVR as our first choice but ended up in CVR (second choice).
