So I’m only kinda kidding about the date with Dean*. If you don’t want dinner then you can just do a discussion with Dean (a kvetch with Kamen? Seriously - I’m for hire FIRST marketing folks!).
Also, while you’re checking things out. There are some cool parts from a Haas F1 car (I assume these were not fok smashed off one of the cars):
Seriously y’all… The auction is over in like 2 days and so many of these don’t have bids… come on, a chat with Collin is definitely worth $100. Heck… with the way some of you carry on… that conversation with Chris Moore is probably worth $1000.
*I hear you gotta wear denim if you want a second date.
I once met him in passing… I know a guy who knows a guy who drives vehicles for Gene and the Haas NASCAR team (and now the F1 team). I got to take a pretty cool tour of the F1 shop here while it was still under construction.
Anyway, the building was mostly empty of people except for like 1 office that we happened to be walking by in the office section of things - we weren’t being particularly loud but probably loud enough that in an empty office it would be heard - this kinda angry looking guy stands up from his desk and comes and closes his door… with a rather glaring look on his face at the 4 of us doing the tour. He wasn’t rude but you could tell we were messing up his day.
Anyway… that’s how I once met Guenther Steiner. Should add that I had no clue who he was at the time.
Seriously though, if they want some of these things sold, I think they’llLimelight, an integrated vision coprocessor need to lower several of the minimum bid amounts.
I imagine this is the case. Little Timmy isn’t bidding on this to discuss with Dean how FIRST changed his life as he grew up to become Lead Engineer Timothy, this is about the BAE Systems charitable giving coordinator outbidding Qualcomm to get arrange a business dinner with the community investment board to discuss the long-term plan for their strategic partnership and convince members of the mission of FIRST.
If someone has $25k or even $10k, you can donate it directly to my team and I guarantee you we will put it to good use. You won’t get a fancy dinner or car parts, but you will be directly helping a lot of kids.
I put in a couple bids on a few things. I’m curious if you won one of the 30 minute talks if you are allowed to have your whole Team on the call as part of the experience as observers or if that’s not allowed. Obviously non-transferable but if I won a call with someone, could I let my students also be on it?
A talk with anyone on the list would be cool definitely. Shame the price of dinner is so much. I’ll just have to settle for a signature.
If you gift us over $1500, we will provide you the opportunity to on any given meeting night to order enough pizza for 30 students and mentors and to join us for the pizza party!
p.s. Thanks Altice for choosing this option in past seasons! (Well, they didn’t attend. But did buy pizza.)
Gotta ease in on ol’ Dean. Bid on the chat AND the Date Night at Hard Rock. Then drop hints that you need a +1 for the Hard Rock. It would be really awkward for him to decline.
With slick advice like this why am I not married already?
On the flip side, there are some pretty awesome deals out there too. I’m not much of a basketball fan and would need to fly to California, but this one looks pretty awesome: FIRST Inspire Gala | Powered By GiveSmart
