Hello,
My team has been looking and considering Andymark EvoShifters for our drive trains, I have read previous threads about them and they all seem to talk about the dog gear failure that has since been fixed, Do any other teams have opinions or obstacles related to the ease of use, or any words of advice for a team that is implementing them for the first time? Are they worth the cost, and what maintenance can we expect to be doing?
We ran these last year, in the two CIM two stage configuration and liked them alot. Very likely to run them again this year, but we are seriously considering the three mini-cim configuration.
We ran them last year and had absolutely zero problems with our drivetrain all year.
We will definitely be running them again this year.
We ran the 3 CIM version in 2017. The only real issue we had were with the early dog gear problems. We only had one dog gear break after that and that was a driver issue (me).
I think the cost is worth it. Also look into making a small belly pan for them since they are open and and can let in field debris into the gears.
Throwing in my support as well. They’re rock solid and reliable, we really liked them.
FRC 4485 ran the 3 sim EVO shifting gearbox. We twice had the pin in the dog gear shaft break but had spares and even them only had issues during practice NOT during matches.
WE did a BUNCH of pushing but did also have code that limited power when needed to assure no breaker tripping.
I would run them again.
We liked them!
We had an issue with our pneumatic piston that would fire a bit slower than its counterpart but other than that it was good.
