Hi everyone, on Tuesday, May 15th we’re planning on doing our recap cast of the 2012 Season. We’re going to hit on some Regional Highlights, Game Highlights, Different CMP Divisions, etc, etc. If anyone has anything specific they’d like us to talk about, please post up in this thread. We’re working on getting a few guests on who had interesting experiences this past season so stay tuned for more info.
Good decision, we could spend hours throwing flames at each other over this issue (though through GP, we shouldn’t, but sometimes emotions get the best of us).
I think one of the biggest things I’d like to see discusses are the many strategies that won each division. Which strategies were the best and which ones stood out.
My team’s interested in hearing a discussion on the benefits and the negative effects we all saw from co-op points. (for example, our scouting team saw a undefeated team’s ranking at the end of Friday in the 20’s)
The recording has started.

<aspiece> Can't see the balls under the bridge
<aspiece> or if we have them lined up right against the wall
<schreiaj> ah interesting
<aspiece> We lost our last finals match because a triple balance and we didn't see balls in the way

<Kristian25> Bill did address the glossary issue in one of the FRC Live! presentations.
<schreiaj> Oh?
Guest 12 has left the chat
Guest 15 is logged into the chat
<Kristian25> Yeah, the reasoning was the they really didn't want to constrain teams/have them lawyer the rules too much
<Kristian25> or something along those lines, but the audience did let him know that they would've preferred some sort of glossary
<Kristian25> For reference, I think it's in one of the Rebound Rumble videos (3-6) http://www.youtube.com/user/FRCTeamsGlobal, IIRC

<schreiaj> Threats don't work either btw...
<aspiece> Oh I have found that out. LOL
<chrisisme> On 1714 we read the manual out loud, with the whole team, on Kickoff
<chrisisme> best way to ensure everyone reads it
<schreiaj> Students realize you can't carry through on them
<aspiece> They read the manual. I should clarify.
<aspiece> We read the updates as a group. I am thinking Q and A

<Guest 11> watch 1983's bridge defense in Spokane Regional
Guest 21 is logged into the chat
<aspiece> Fender defense was deadly on fender shooters. We got to do it once and we shut down both 1322 and 548
<wing1002> I don't think there was a difference in difficulty on either shots. it depended on how it was executed by the team
<wing1002> 2056 was pretty invulnerable to fender D
Guest 2 has left the chat
<apalrd> I kinda like the fender...
<wing1002> 842
<Kristian25> 1065
<schreiaj> Moose turned into a key shooter at Boca elims
<wing1002> There was no backboard though, that was what made it hard
<wing1002> you had to land your shots in for a swoosh
<aspiece> Once our shooter was working correctly, the key was easy to line up without code
<wing1002> audio just died on me....

<wing1002> That shot between the lane and the fender is hard because of no backboard

<wing1002> I do think the bots that could shoot from both were the best
<wing1002> Co-op bridge really screwed with the rankings
<aspiece> I liked the second level of strategy
<aspiece> IT created some interesting competitiveness strategy between the opposing teams
<aspiece> I will admit to some politicing
<wing1002> argh, audio died on me again
<avanboekel> hit the trouble hearing thing in the bottom right
<wing1002> cool
<jbarry987> Getting coop last match of qualifications instead of going for likely win cost us a 49-0 season

<matt_FRCDesigns> Hello Everyone!
<avanboekel> hi!
<wing1002> I mean, there's those teams like 1114 and 1717 that sit there and help any possible team that needs help at competition

<aspiece> inconsistent on ball jam rules
<wing1002> I saw that it was inconsistent on the Hybrid rulings for buzzer beaters
<Kristian25> I think that as the season went on, they got better at dealing with ball jams, at least in hybrid
<aspiece> One match of our they simple gave us the points and didn't restart a match.

<wing1002> I found that in Week 7 events, they were counting buzzer beaters in Hybrid, but in Newton, they weren't
<Kristian25> The ruling at CMP on that was that the field supposedly had a slight delay built in to account for the extra hybrid points after the buzzer
<Kristian25> so they weren't going to manually adjust it
Guest 28 has left the chat
Guest 29 is logged into the chat
<thefro526> IIRC, it was enough to count a ball in the hoop at the end of hybrid, but not a ball in the air
<Kristian25> and that was consistent across the event. I know at some other events earlier in the season, the field crews were compensating for the extra 3 pts
<jbarry987> Refs job is to supervise proper placement of elements on fields
<Kristian25> Much better than the 06 real time scoring, and at least the goals were such that the pokey pokey stick guy couldn't knock the balls out of the goal
<aspiece> The real time scoring was key for many of our wins
<Kristian25> They could, but it was sooo much better than 2006's

<Kristian25> A++ on the scoring
<aspiece> We may have made some teams a little mad because we waited to shoot rather than go to the bridge at :45

<aspiece> We still would get the bridge but win in points
