We need to replace our Neyland carpet. The recommended (Carpet at 2024 Events | FIRST) Profusion 20 Plethora is available and easy to find. But if we can’t stick gaffer tape to it, I don’t know how we’re going to do the seam between the rolls. Or put down field markings. We can’t leave our carpet down permanently so we need a solution that we can roll out and then roll up again.
So… someone out there must have experience with this carpet, right? How has it been? How have you made it work? What didn’t work? Or if you went in a different direction that you found is working well, could you point us in that direction?
Do you tape the seam every time you roll out the carpets? We don’t. At most we tape a 10 foot section if the robot is traversing the seam there frequently and tripping over it.
I know they put lubricants on plastic fibers when they make them. Has anyone tried carpet cleaning a section of the new carpet to see if that removes the unstuck ability?
I like the hook idea. That’s smart. We’re stealing that for the seam.
I’m still wondering about field marking. The cleaning idea is a good one but not something I can do until I get it. Maybe on a sample. But there’s got to be someone out there using this carpet who’s solved this. The guy at Carpet Express that I talked with this morning says he’s sold this to quite a few teams.
Then you need to make yourselves a pair of carpet yankees!!! Easy welding project and they make moving a 300 pound carpet roll easy! https://images.app.goo.gl/PABciBUMJzZcyvQ18
We bought a dark grey, almost black, carpet. The carpet is pretty much the same color as the swerve tread marks. It looks great even after lots of driving that surely would leave dark skid marks like the competition carpet does. Dark carpet does show debris and needs more frequent vacuuming to keep it looking clean. We asked for samples until we found one that would hold tape well.
