Fast or slow

Hello for your competition bots are you using a high or low speed.we are using a west coast tank drive with a 2 speed gearbox. We measured it going about golf kart speed. It’s fast and agile and plays defense well.Better than mechaium wheels :grinning:

To answer your question we’ll be using high speed when we’re undefended and low speed when we’re being defended essentially.

single speed ~13.5 ft/s adjusted

Mechaium wheels are the wheels with wheels on them. not fun

Like mecanum?

I vote for fast — and by fast, I mean secure the hatches fast, stow the cargo fast, and get up onto the HAB as fast as possible. We think gearing ~6:1 between Neo motors and Raptor treads will enable us to do all that, fast.

I think hes hinting at your incorrect spelling of mecanum wheels (for the first one at least.)

Also, what is “golf kart speeds” in a real world metric? some of them can be slow to obscenely fast.

BTW omni wheels have wheels on the wheels too, so gotta be a bit more specific

Maybe the IBPM defines “golf kart speed”

I always place wheels on my wheels.

Everyone knows that faster is better. That’s why we’re using the Poohbear drivetrain with direct drive CIMs on 8” wheels. With our 186 ft/s drivetrain, we’ll leave your pitiful 13.5 ft/s single speed drivetrains in the dust.

Remember that this style of drivetrain only works with non-circular wheels. Otherwise you’ll be too easy to defend!

Are you machining it from a solid block of 7071 aluminum on your sponsor’s five-axis mill?

Once you get past 129.066667 ft/sec, many interesting strategy options become available to you as long as the outer panels of your robot are made from stainless steel…

Unfortunately, Mr. Fusion is not allowed as a power source…

Does my flux capacitor count as a CUSTOM CIRCUIT?

Ah yes. An oldie but a goodie.

Might want to try out 2 speed swerve tho.

Your flux capacitor (all capacitors are flux capacitors!) custom circuit will only be allowed by inspectors if:

  1. It is below 24 volts, and therefore is legal, or
  2. It is above 24 megavolts, and is therefore so powerful that inspectors are afraid of offending it

Nah. Inspectors would just go after the 50A draw. Far less intimidating.
