Fastest Most Powerfull motor out there

ok my team wants to do a crazy off season project (still looking for permission to put it out there and see what you guys think, probably wont get it tho) However, for this project we need the most crazy fast, high torque motor out there, under 10lbs and $100. Any hints on where to look???

For the money, my bets are on gasoline powered. Although that’s probably over 10lbs and probably not what you’re looking for. You could get 3 CIMs for <$100. Brushless would be the way to go, but any decent brushless setup will run you more than $100. You might be able score a surplus golf cart motor, although that might be over 10 lbs.

We really need to know the application to offer any specific guidance.

Like a leaf blower?

How fast is ‘crazy fast’?
How much torque is ‘High Torque’?

Give us some ‘ballpark’ or minimum numbers and we’ll see what we can dig up.

The robot market place has a lot of different motors.

there is a popular motor in combat robots called the “EV Warrior” that is a steal for the price they usually go for.

They are surplus from a discontinued electric bike.

this auction has them at a steal.

Per the specshere(and experience), they are pretty darn powerful at 24V.

Many robot combat teams use car starter motors or washing machine motors for their robots, though I’ve never checked any of the specs on them.

meeting that weight requirement probably rules them out…

Try here: http://www.allelectronics.com/. Looks to have some fairly powerful motors for under $100

It looks like the DeWalt 24v hammerdrill motor sold by Robot Marketplace might fit the bill. It’s just over $60, and has a nominal power of about 1.6 kW (a little over 2 horsepower), and a stall power of about 4.5 kW (a little over 6 horsepower). As a hammerdrill motor, it was designed specifically for high-torque and low weight (you know about how much a drill weighs, figure this is WAY under 10 pounds).
