Favorite limit switches

Does anyone have a recommendation for their favorite sturdy limit switch for lifts, telescoping arms, rotating mechanisms, etc.?

Every team I’ve coached has tried a variety of them, from the magnetic ones to the cheap plastic ones, and they never last the season. Just wondering what other people have found that they are happy with.

We used this 3d printed housings with cheap limit switches last year and it protected us from breaking the switch. FYI if you use rubber bands instead of a spring make sure you replace them if you leave the robot in a hot car for a few hours. Limit Switch (Contact Switch) Case by Team2052 - Thingiverse

We found these bumper switches on McMaster in 2019 and used them on our elevator. Worked great for us.

E18D80NK for game piece detection. HiLetGo has a pre-crimped one that will plug right into the RoboRIO. They are adjustable mounting and trigger distance.

5V inductive sensors with 12mm OD are very common on Amazon now and work great for zeroing. I prefer them to halls because they don’t need a magnet and are easy to adjust with the threaded body. These are super repeatable to within fractions of a mm.

I pretty much never use physical limit switches anymore. I would consider a reed switch for magnet detection if plugged into a Falcon limit switch input.
