After watching the elimination matches at the Northern Lights even in Duluth, I was inspired to create a thread about your favorite matches at the different events.
My choice for Northern Lights was Semi-Finals 1 Match 1. It was amazing to see a match that was really close the entire time. The best part was that both sides had breached and captured. This was tied for highest score of the week and is first for highest combined score.
Here is a video of the match.
I really thought Qualification Match 62 at Auburn Mountainview was spectacular. Skunkworks (1983) breached and won as the only team of their alliance on the field.
My Favorite match was Qualification 43 at the lake superior regional. In this match we got our robot working after our robot would not hold connection with the field.
At Granite State, 4905 did something very similar which was especially fun, since I was driving :D. We had 2 partners on the field who got one cross during auto, but then they both dc’ed and we finished the breach and got the win.
My favorite match of Granite State was when our team finally got to see our unique gearing system go into overdrive as we pushed a defender all the way out of their courtyard.
Anyone who attended FiM Southfield on Friday will remember what happened whilst they were setting up the field for Qualification Match 37. It was memorable to say the least (luckily no one was hurt), it was also the reason we won’t be seeing the clapper start a match again.
Yes, but the beauty of 1983’s breach was that they completed it with 62 seconds left, climbed the tower, and won. I appreciate the self-breach but I think these robot performances were quite different.
Definitely some impressive stuff from both teams. Not trying to discredit any teams, a 60 second breach is very impressive. I just wanted to put out another instance of a team with two dead robots breaching. Also had 2046 scored that initial auto point they would have tied 1983’s solo score.
I definitely agree. This was an amazing match, probably the best I’ve seen since it was so competitive. It literally went down to the wire where we made it on the batter at the last second and the announcer thought Blue Alliance won. It was a thrilling match and honestly honored to be a part of it, even though we did lose by the smallest of margins.
My favorite match so far has got to be Q67 of PNW Auburn Mountainview. We, 3238, were down one robot on our alliance and in one match managed to complete six crossings and make six shots in the high goal. Even after that we only managed to win by 4 points with a shot and park in the last 5 seconds of the match after fumbling with the ball for a bit.
