(I know some people don’t like Internet Explorer, but I do. :p)
Brandon, do you know about the “Favorites Icon” you can post to CD which will show up on IE’s Favorites menu?
I come to CD a lot, but I don’t have it as my home page, so I usually pick it from my Favorites menu. It would be cool if CD showed up in the menu with a distinctive icon so it would be easier to pick out in the crowd. (If you have used IE 5 or greater, you may have seen some sites that show up on the favorites menu with their own icon.)
The way you can do this is to post a standard (I think) WinDoze (a bone to the M$ bashers) icon file named FAVICON.ICO in your root directory. (Or you can link to it in your HTML code.) See this for more details.

Yeah, I’ve done that for work, actually …
I’ll see what I can whip up …
Its not IE only anymore. Mozilla supports favicons for the past few releases. Because of this the next version of netscape will too.
I think that’s a cool feature that more websites need to take advantage of.
By the way Greg, I was a Netscape user until IE5 came out, and now I use IE6. The way IE6, Outlook Express 6 and Windows Messnger integrate is cool.
(It appears when I type http://www.chiefdelphi.com/favicon.ico into the address bar) but I can’t get it to appear in my favorites menu. Any idea why not?
I didn’t use an icon creator to make that.
I was trying to cheat and just rename a gif.
I have an icon program somewhere … I’ll convert it in a few…
Hey, just a nice little program I found at some point that I like. Its called WinKey and it configures your keyboard as a shortcut for anything you want with a combination of the “Start” button and almost any other key. You can set parameters in which IE loads (to make it go to a certain page). For me, “Start” + “End” loads up the forums page of CD. Its keyed to a lot of other stuff too. Here is a link to the DL page - the DL link is on the top left. Hope it helps.

I converted this from your GIF file. The icon editor I have only supports 16 colors, and I had to dither to get the orange color, so it’s not the right shade; but until you get a chance to make a better one, you may use this one.
