[FF]: 2009 Championships

$@#$@#$@#$@#! that was my secret pick…i was hoping they were kind of under the radar and seeing their easier than others division i wanted to take them…

I have a list of 50 teams which is pretty much ranked… but i am not sending it for now, i prefer to pick live.
Hopefully we should get many picks before the draft even starts…

I have one list from hill who’s going to be in Spain during the draft.

I have a list of 104 teams, but I’m not sending it in because I want flexibility to change my mind.

Just make sure you show up for your picks and it won’t be an issue but there’s no point of putting a bullet in the chamber if you aint gonna use it.

I’m going to do live drafting. Hopefully, my first pick happens today instead of tomorrow…

I’m also keeping a list of who has which teams in conjunction with the official scoring sheet.

After seeing the divisions released I was VERY tempted to switch to 2056. In another thread I am predicting 1114 and 2056 to take it all. The only reason I didn’t is in the chance that 1114 and 2056 get split up.

What did make you choose 1625 over all the other bots Barry?

They are amazing and a chairman’s winner? Two championships with a 24-5-0 record is nothing to sneeze at.

That being said, it was a very tough decision between them 1114, 2056, and 2 or other teams that I could still switch to on a moments notice.

First Round Pick: 67

But what are the chances of 1114 and 2056 will get split up? Given the lack of depth in Archimedes (my team is in Archimedes, so I’m not saying anything particularly negative here), I’m willing to bet that they both seed in the top 8. In that case, no matter what their seeds are inside the top 8, they’ll pretty much be together.

Although it seems everyone is looking for strategies to beat 1114 and 2056, so I guess it’s possible for them to seed out of the top 8. I’m expecting you see a bit of Stephen Curry/ Loyola play in Archimedes. (For those that don’t know, Stephen Curry is a prolific basketball player for Davidson and Gonzaga put three of their five guys on defending him - they shut him out but lost the game by 30 points)

All in good time I guess.

EDIT: Sorry for taking so long to get my first pick in and delaying getting the first round started, it was a combination of a lot of stuff to do with not knowing exactly who to pick.

EDIT 2: Thanks to Jack for reminding me that it was Loyola, not Gonzaga… I couldn’t quite remember and I just took an educated guess.

One of them will need to seed first to pick the other or else they will be split up. And as an observation over years past, I find it rare that the bot that is truly the best, seeds first. Other teams will get easy schedules and will sometimes sneak up to that number 1 seed position. When they do this, they have the power to really level the playing field if some of the top bots are in the top 8. I love watching the alliance selection process and I really miss being a part of it as I used to be a scout.

I’m going to predict that 1114 and 2056 do not end up together because another team will manage to grab the first seed.

And Ed, I should be able to make my pick tonight if Eric takes his pick sometime soon. I may just do something different than what my list has to say

Okay. I still believe 1625 is the best robot on Galileo, but I am going to trade out for a team I feel has a much high chance at the Chairman. Lets hope I don’t regret this.

I narrowed down my pick to 1114 and 234 within 5 minutes of getting a chance to pick 3 days later I made the decision to go with Simbotics. I wish you had picked 234 earlier, so I didn’t have to worry about that decision and we could have moved along with picking.

I was pretty sure one didn’t have to seed first. Maybe I just missed some archaic rule. But say some team like 665 (one can dream right  ) is seeded first, 2056 is 4 and 1114 is 7, if 665 picks 2056 can they not deny? Then 665 picks 1114 and they can deny too. Then if the second and third seed picks 2056 they can still deny, until they get to pick 4, in which case 2056 would pick 1114 and 1114 would accept. That was my understanding.

Once you deny you cannot accept

Pretty sure that only applies to teams outside the top 8. Which is why I said both teams would need to be in the top 8.

It applies to everybody. Top 8 teams just have the ability to build their own alliances instead. If you deny a higher seed, you cannot go on to accept another invitation.
