[FF]: 2010 Season Long Fantasy FIRST

Dodar,

That is correct, you just make a list of the teams in the order you would want to pick them. You do not necessarily have to go up to the total number of teams at the event, you can stop wherever you want and if your list runs out you will be assigned a random team from the remaining pool.

Chris,
As far as I know this is the scoring that is being used:

It should be at the top of the second page of this thread. I posted it almost as soon as I joined up.

Yes. A note on lists: You do not have to list every team at the event. When (if) your list runs out, you will be assigned random teams. It’s as many teams as you want. I usually just hit the big teams, then wing it/take my chances.

Second list note: I’d personally prefer them without each team designated “ordering number. team number”; I clear out the ordering numbers when I prepare a document with all the lists. Just have them in order; that’ll be great.

So when I choose my teams I should keep them in the order they are on the FIRST website?

No, put them from most wanted to least wanted, possibly numbered but Eric asks that you don’t.

Oh! ok I understand now thanks!

That makes editing a lot easier too, thanks Eric! That is, if I decide to join.

I’d love to play, but I’m a little confused. When are the drafts, and what kind of time commitment are we talking?

Thanks.

Drafts are as posted in the schedule here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=875953&postcount=47 with the exceptions of Philly and Lone Star (to be scheduled), while the MI State draft takes place the week of the event due to the qualification process. Drafts typically start around 7 Eastern time; exceptions will be announced when the random list is published.

Time commitment: As much as you’re willing to put in. We do ask that you participate in one draft in five, otherwise you will be removed from the league. A lot of people use Thanksgiving break as a good time to set up lists to choose their teams. As long as the lists come in, the draft runners typically don’t really care how they come in.

General list note: Make sure whoever is running that night’s draft has yours, and you should probably also copy Ed or myself. We do communicate who has and hasn’t sent in lists or made picks so we know who’s on the verge of a boot.

The draft dates are in the second post of the fourth page but as I have pointed out, two events are missing. The drafts are often from 7 pm to about 10 pm.

You do not have to be present during the whole draft, you can either create a list and send it in or only be there when it is your turn to pick. (times are posted before hand)

Please read through the important posts of this thread before making your decision.

Thanks. I think I’ve got it now. I’m game! Count me in.

Philadelphia, Lone Star, the MI Championship, and the Championship Event are TBD on the draft schedule; they’ll be added when we know. (Ed, I can probably arrange to run those in the early- to mid-December portion of the draft if you want.)

so for pre-making lists, who would we send them to?

and if we can make it to the actual draft, what times do they usually start?

Lists get sent to whoever is running the draft; usually that’s either Koko Ed or myself. Best idea is to send to both of us, as when I’m not running the draft I’ll be trying to do a check on accuracy. (And I keep the score sheet, which has a way to track the number of drafts you miss in a row.)

Drafts start at 7:00 EST, unless otherwise noted.

Could we email our lists in an excel spreadsheet (1 tab per regional) instead of doing it in one long PM?

I plan on knocking out all of my lists during Thanksgiving break. How many teams should they have?

XaulZan, Excel works fine. You can also do one list per day, or however you want to do it. Last year, someone posted his lists online on a site he updated, then gave the runners a link to the list.

Chris, as many as you think you need. Some events, you might only have one or two teams you want. Others, the field is really deep, so you want more teams.

I’m considering completely reinventing the way I decide which teams I want to draft. 2nd place just didn’t cut it last year.

all I need to do is have one list… rank EVERY TEAM IN FIRST, and then just break it down for every regional.

How many teams can there possibly be?

Wait, that sounds like what I did over the summer. It works for me. there are about 1600 teams to look through to make that list, or go by the award pages. I found info ranging back to 2002 which is more than enough.

Same here, although now a lot of award info is a bit jumbled up. I should update the rankings soon though.
