[FF]: 2010 Season Long Fantasy FIRST

I think I caught the last one today during some spare time. I’ll give it another couple-three drafts to make sure I haven’t missed anything, then get a how-to together and get it posted somewhere. The really good part of the program is that if it fails, you still have all the lists and orders in a text file, so doing it manually becomes a lot easier. I’ve had to do that more than once when a bug came along.

And if you’d like to run a draft and see just how frustrating it can really be, we may have an opening tomorrow night, if a second runner hasn’t been located. We’ll certainly have some later in December and early January.

Can’t do tomorrow, I already have two meetings scheduled during the draft.

X-Cats have no meeting tomorrow so I can do a draft.
Pick which one you want Eric.

I’ll go ahead and take Oregon.

cool.

I would like to thank Eric and Ed for working the problem out. I certainly understand how difficult it must be and appreciate fixing the problem. Thanks!

I agree that this is just for fun, but if there are a lot of problems and people don’t get the teams they want, then I don’t think it is very fun (it would be easy to give everyone random teams but that really isn’t much fun). That being said, I don’t think it is anywhere close to that point.

Two more members have been absent from the draft the past few days and are in danger of being booted soon:

Neither Wifi or rocketperson44 participated in tonight’s draft. If they do not participate in tomorrow’s draft they will be booted from the league.

Think was the operative word here. That bug cropped up again tonight, and forced me out of the program mid-draft. (I don’t like to argue with computer programs). So I did some rewriting and totally squashed it. Still going to be a couple of drafts of testing before I release the program, though. Might also be some cosmetic work on the outputs, but that doesn’t count as work.

(And if you ask how totally it was squashed, I deliberately tried to trigger the function that had been at fault by both methods it’s called. It triggered exactly when it was supposed to, and operated flawlessly.)

The Cass Tech drafting starts at 6:00 EST tonight. This is a change from normal; I had something come up almost at the last minute. This is also a one-time change, and confined to Cass Tech.

Also, I have a request that may sound odd to some of you. Could some of you who send in lists add in a team or two that isn’t attending, in random locations? I’d like to fully verify that the program I’ve been working on works under “battle conditions”, specifically a function that checks for teams that aren’t attending at all. Don’t worry, I’ll be checking manually to make sure that you don’t get a non-attending team.

I’ve posted that drafting program I’ve been working on to CD-Media. It is fully functional, though there may be tweaks that need to be made eventually. If you’re going to use it, you should probably take a look at the instruction sheet that’s with it.

I read the instructions and I think I royally screwed up somewhere. I extracted the folder, copied the example lists (changing the initial 5 in the second line to one) into a .txt file next to the .exe. I ran the program and input 2 for the number of players and input the name of the .txt fil and the window closes on me.

Does the file name have any spaces in it? (And did you remember the extension?) Either one of those will cause the program to quit suddenly.
