During a match at SBPLI the right side of our drivetrain died. I instantly assumed it to be electrical and went to work. After finding nothing, we ran the drivetrain on blocks. The right side stalled, and with the help of a handy flashlight, we found this. In case you’re wondering, the tape is wrapped completely around the pulley.
Oh man. That stinks. At least nothing was damaged to bad. It will be interesting to see once the videos are up the exact place/time where that got taken in.
We ran into the same problem, but didn’t stop us driving. We only noticed that our trike wheel was hard to turn. In our case, the tape became one with the pulley. The green tape doesn’t seem as robust as the white tape as every match the field personnel are repairing the green tape often (Orlando and Palm Beach regionals.)
I’m pretty sure this was at IRI 2015 so it wasn’t that important, but one of our swerve modules wouldn’t turn after becoming entangled in field tape as well.
During one match, our main breaker tripped. It turned out that the bungee cord in our reversible bumper had snapped and got caught in our drive train and caused it to stall.
You can see our driver reacting to it (Red alliance station 2 - the one with the flag around him) around to it around the 2:00 mark, and our robot driving lopsidedly around that point as well. I can’t seem to find when the tape was taken in…
