Finger Lakes Regional

Hello! I am from team 2544 and we are hyped up for this regional. This is our first time at Rochester and we know almost no one at this event (we know 156). But, we would like to know about some of the teams that are going to Finger Lakes and if there are things we should know. We already know about the snow. But, if you guys have any recommendations on anything we would love to accept your comments. Also, we are currently working on a way to help our alliance members with strategies. We are nice people and do not be shy with us just that we have never been there before. And also please treat 156 the same.
Thanks.

PS. I am also part of the drive team for 2544 so you might see me. (I’m the nerd in the glasses and short hair)

Welcome to Rochester!

It’s a great event lots of room for spectators and good sight lines for scouting matches. The teams from the area are highly competitive and practice gracious professionalism. The Rochester and Western New York area have a large number of team.

The action will probably make this FLR one of the best events of any regional or district. The winners here will have been tested and should do well in the divisional rounds at Worlds.

Welcome to RIT!
The RIT Fieldhouse has the best bleachers of any FIRST event I’ve been to (the seats have BACKS!), and plenty of room. The pits are spacious and there’s usually a decent size practice field with both the provided practice field elements, and some of the wooden versions that local teams provide.

Food-wise, RIT has their concession stands open during the event, but for lunch I’d recommend heading over to RITz Sports Zone (about a 5 minute walk from the field house), where they serve a variety of foods (most notable The Mascot, which is a delicious and calorie-laden sandwich).

Finger Lakes teams are gracious and helpful throughout, so don’t hesitate to ask anyone for help, and the volunteers at the event are experienced and knowledgeable.

An invitation
Enjoy yourselves. FLR should be a terrific event. Very familiar with the area/arena having lived there for so long and can say was graciously received when we brought a robot to the RaChaCha Rumble event.
And if you have an opportunity, get a garbage plate.
Good Luck

Thanks Guys. We were going blind so thanks. Also, the practice field seems promising

Make sure you and your team, get a garbage plate before heading home.

Nick T’s is the original but dog towns are the best.

Que best plate in Rochester argument

Hi, I actually made an account if Chief Delphi just now to reply to this.

In actuality, we HAVE been to Finger Lakes before. Twice actually, in 2011 (Our rookie year) and 2013. Along with this we are accustomed to a few teams here. (2 of which we went on to win with at Buckeye last year) Remember if you guys ever need ANYTHING, we are here for you guys. It’s going to be a new environment for your team and though we haven’t been there for a few years we will do anything to make you feel a little bit more comfortable in this new setting. I know our local contact has been brief, but as a team, we are here for you.

To all the other teams competing, I’m looking forward to competing with you all and I can’t wait to see everyone’s robots!

Don’t even start…

So long as you don’t go there after dark…

Personally it’s our first time going in 5 years, but we will see familiar faces. Especially our friends 3015 and 340 (Who were our alliance partners at Buckeye last year) along with 1507 who we competed with as well. Still excit3d to see everyone in less than a week.

639 loves FLR and the venue is the best we’ve ever attended. The accessibility of the pits is fantastic and there are plenty of comfortable seats. Concessions are a little expensive, but other than that I love it!

People keep asking if I’m back, and I haven’t really had an answer…but yeah, I’m thinking I’m back.

See you next week!

That’s great news! FLR with Angry Eric makes it that much better.

FINALLY!
