First Alliance to Activate Stage Three?

In Quarters 1 Match 2 and Finals 2 of the Plano District Event, the alliance of 118, 148, and 7119 activated stage three both matches. Are these two times the first this year, and do you think that this will happen more often with a good example of what should happen like in these matches? Any other thoughts?

I was looking at blue alliance data from week 1 and 2, stage 3 has only been done twice so that would fit.

I personally don’t think it will be common in qualifications until a) teams see the cycling rates going high enough they are confident they can score the 49 game pieces needed for the RP and b) climbing RP and high auto scores no longer give you an edge in rankings

i mean, it took the two of top 10 world bots to finish the stage 3 with the sacrifice of climbing for 118. I don’t know if a lot more achieve but then again this year is not like any other years and all teams have time to switch their robot completely.

Hmmm…it took us 8 weeks to get ours to where it is, how long do you expect it to take us to switch it completely? At least a month, eh?

But they don’t have to come up with a brand new design necessarily. Many of other team’s CADs are out in public, and of course you need resources to do so. However, I do believe that some teams would spend their time, especially if they have a big gap until their next comp, to change their robots

Regardless, the fact that it took two top 10 team/robots in the world to finish the 3rd stage is kind of ridiculous.

What did you expect? I thought there would be a few more times it happened, but it would be rare, and not something we need to plan for doing.

The fact that both Stage 3 completions happened during Eliminations was somewhat pointless, as this Stage is more significant during Quals and the RP that comes with it. Also, the passing of the Stage occured after the End-of-Game signal was blasted and it compromised the ability to perform a multi-robot climb.
But, that said, the ice has been broken and the 118/148 pair have shown that with great accuracy and speed on salvo shots, Stage 3 completion is possible.
