Is anyone else having trouble with www.firstcadlibrary.com ? I keep getting a connection timed out error, and I need some of the stuff.
Supposedly the kit of parts is now up on streamline
Yes but there’s stuff I need in IGES format, or STEP format, and stuff that isn’t even in the VKoP.
Well… Looks like Bandwidth is finally a problem at that site:
WHOIS information for firstcadlibrary.com:
Maximum Daily connection limit reached. Lookup refused.
Looks like FIRST is growing too fast for Ed to keep up… :ahh:
I have a bunch of the files saved Matt, if you need something in particular, and you know the name/part number, let me know and I will see if I still have it.
I was going to make a CD of all the parts on that site for use at the , and I started DL’ing a bunch of parts, but may not have them all…
PM me or AIM me.
If anybody has a Mechanical Desktop, Inventor, or STEP file for the pillow block bearing that has been supplied in the past, can you send it to me at [email protected].
Thanks a million!
It just stops me from having to use some of my very limited CAD resources drawing something that I know existed on the firstcadlibrary…
Do any of these CAD files exist here on CD? With any extension?
Hey Brandon… could we get one of these anytime soon? like before next year, say? jk
Sorry all… For those who are seeking parts mentioned in this thread, and the PM I got. I don’t have any of the things you have requested.
I have mostly kit parts… Battery and other kit related parts.
Seems like I go through this every year about this time. I suspect the domain is messed up again. I’ll contact my provider and log a trouble ticket.
Sorry all … Shouldn’t take long
Ed :ahh:
I would like to know if anyone is willing to give me or send to me the virtual kit. I would greatly appreciate it! My e-mail is [email protected]. Anyone who has at least the main components please send them to me in inventor files. I would like to work with them. Even if you have the entire library, I would enjoy that much more. Either works. The only reason I want the files this way is because I can not access firstcadlibrary.com. Thank you.
Grant
Here are the links:
IFI Kit Robot Parts (Trans, frame & wheels)
Autodesk 2005 VKoP (on Streamline) - Username = (public) [include the parentheses], Password = [blank - no password is needed]
Yea im getting the same problem. This is quite annoying
I hope that everyone realizes that FIRST CAD Library is a site which Ed Sparks has been good enough to maintain for us and is not the “official” FIRST/IFI or Autodesk download site for the 2005 Virtual Kit of Parts. See my post above for the links to those sites.
And lets hope Ed’s ISP gets their problem straightened out soon!
OK, so I made a list of all the parts from the FIRST CAB LIBRARY that I have.
It would be great if you knew the name of the part, or if not the name, at least show me a pic of what it looks like when you request these.
I can only do a limited amount a night, don’t want to make this a full time job sending files out to people, but ask me and if I have time, I will send them to you.
PM me and I will see what I can do.
Ed, how’s that trouble ticket coming along? :ahh:
edit: Please note, all parts are either mostly from 2002 when I CAD’ed our bot, or only 2004 and back when I started saving a bunch of parts and files in case we needed them this year…
No 2005 parts, except existing parts from 2004 and back.
FIRST CAD LIBRARY FILES.txt (4.64 KB)
FIRST CAD LIBRARY FILES.txt (4.64 KB)
OK fixed
Elgin can rest now …
yay! It’s back up… let’s all celebrate!
however, it came back up after our design presentations. oh well.
hey ive just started using inventor and im drawing up our robot on inventor 8.0… it would be helpful to use some of the componets from firstcadlibrary.com and i was wondering what file format to download to use in an .iam? i tried the inv file and when i try and open it in inventor i get the error “Failed to Open Document”???
The INV files are the ones you want. All of them are compressed into .zip files. Be sure to unzip…
Ed,
Could we sweet talk you into a model of the new circuit breaker panel?
I second that, I could really use it.
I think that this would actually be a good time to thank ed sparks for all of the work that he has put into that site. I know that our teams uses their parts year in and year out on our robot. Thanks Ed
