FIRST Cameras and Lag

What are the best practices to keep camera feed on a robot as quick as possible? Our team used one in 2016 but opted to ignore it since it would take nearly a half second for the image to be displayed on the computer screen. Is there any way to get nearly instantaneous camera feed?

We are doing the following:

160p video
15 fps
grayscale (turn saturation to 0)

works for two cameras at the same time
