I’ve just started a public ecircle for people that want to talk about FIRST within ecircles. I encourage everyone to signup for ecircles and check out my new circle. I’ll admit there’s not much there right now, I’m hoping we all can change that. Please sign up for ecircles, then go to the public directory. Go to the school/education section, then clubs. The circle is call FIRST. I hope to see you there.

I hate to show my lacking in technology… But what is an ‘ecircle’?
Is this a new buzz word?

You know, I asked myself the same question (right Matt? =) And the ecircle (Leon please correct me if I’m wrong) seems to be much like the Egroups service. A basic email discussion group with a place for pictures.
I found the site rather difficult to navigate, and if this is the same as egroups, I think their service is better…but heck, I’ll sign up for anything FIRST related =)

No you’re right on the money, Lora. Ecircles is a free service that you can sign up for to share information, addresses, emails, dates, files, pics, etc. with other people also signed up for the ecircles. Your given a username and password that identify you and you can post, email, grab files other people have uploaded, etc. My team (TJ²) has been using it for about 6 months now and beginning to find it an invaluable tool. I’ve also seen in sharingfirst that it is a recomended way to communicate with teams members. I guess the new things is public ecircles as opposed to the private one we have amoung the team. I’m going to see how well a public ecircle for discussing FIRST works and go from there. I encourage everyone to sign up for the service. It’s free, it there a better price. I hope to share thing a little more on a one on one basis within it instead of Delphi’s method of throwing everything out and just letting people grab at it. I want to get people to meet other people from around FIRST and to share ideas and suggestions amoung themselves. Such as if the webprogramers or robotic builders started talking to each other and offering advice, I think it might be a little easier (sometimes) then throwing a general idea on Delphi’s page and having 200+ people respond to it. Also I think it would be a great way to make friends and to play things at regionals to do together. I’ve heard of parties and stuff happening at competitions and we couldn’t come because we found out too late. I think this might speed up the interFIRST communication. Then people can make other sites such as web, build, moneymaking ecircles with the program and get specific and meet other people with the same goals and ideas. I love Delphi but I just thought I’d try something new and see how it worked. This is just another way to get around and learn who’s who within this massively growing FIRST world. Invite everyone to join. I’d love to see ya all there. Best of luck in the upcoming year.
