**FIRST EMAIL**/Event Registration Sept. 30/TIMS Account Tips

Greetings Teams:

We are straying from our usual Thursday email blast schedule to provide you with some very timely information/reminders.

Initial Event Registration Opens September 30th @ 12 noon EDT: Register for your initial Competition Event in TIMS beginning 9/30 @ 12 noon EDT: https://my.usfirst.org/frc/tims/site.lasso.

TIMS ACCOUNT TIPS!

The very first time you log in to your TIMS account this season, you will be prompted to sign the “2011 Agreement - I have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions and FIRSTPrivacy Policy for the 2011 FIRST Robotics Competition season” by checking the appropriate box. You will not be able to edit/view your team until you have done so!

Once you have checked the I Agree box, you will be able to edit/view your Team Summary page. Don’t forget that you must validate your Profile Status before you will be able to register for events! Validating your Profile Status is the last required field in the Team Profile section of the Team Summary page.

Initial Event Registration for Washington State: Again this year, due to the requirements of state grants for Washington (WA) teams, initial event registration will be open to WA teams only. When second registration opens, all other teams will have the opportunity to register for remaining spots. We thank you in advance for your understanding. More information available on Bill’s Blog: http://usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/content.aspx?id=18237.

Dallas Regional News: The Dallas Regional has moved from week four to week six and is being planned as a double event. The two events are tentatively called Dallas East and Dallas West.

Double Events: The 2011 FRC competition season features some double events (where two competitions are held in the same city at the same time). If your team plans to register for one of a pair of events, please keep in mind, FRC reserves the right to ‘balance’ teams at these events. This could mean ensuring the events have a similar number of teams registered (instead of allowing one event to be crowded with 64 teams while the paired event only has 28 teams) or ensuring teams of a similar ability level are evenly distributed between events (instead of allowing all the rookie teams to sign up for one event while the other event doesn’t have any). FRC has not had to ‘balance’ double events in the past, but reserves the right to do so if necessary. The names of Double Events are strictly for identification purposes. You do not have to live in the East to register for Toronto East and you do not have to come from the Cascades to register for Seattle Cascades. All FRC teams are invited to register for any Regional event. More information available on Bill’s Blog: http://usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/content.aspx?id=18237.

Just a reminder: In order to better assist teams during initial registration, Team Support representatives will be available at 1-800-871-8326 ext. 0.until 8 PM EST through 9/29.

Go Teams!
