We are contacting FRC teams and their supporters attending the FIRST Championship, to identify individuals that can help as volunteer translators for an FLL international team at the World Festival during the Coaches’ Meeting, Wednesday April 16, Opening Ceremonies and judging sessions on Thursday, April 17, and during other FLL activities including Closing Ceremonies on Friday, April 18.

All FLL teams participate in three judging sessions - each 15 minutes with a 5-minute break between each session, scheduled at various times over the day. In these sessions, teams are judged on the technical aspects of their robot and program, their research project and presentation and a teamwork challenge. We will be developing the judging schedule shortly, and will be able to share the times for each team’s judging sessions. Translators would help teams understand questions that the judges pose, and then translate the team’s answers back to the judges.

On Friday, some teams are involved in judging call back sessions in the morning, and competition rounds morning and early afternoon, as well as our award ceremony late afternoon. For the closing event, we are looking for individuals who can translate and read award text (3 to 5 sentences of text) during the ceremony.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the FLL World Festival Translator form and email it to [email protected] and [email protected]
