Greetings Teams:
Scholarship News: Over $13.8 Million in 2011 FIRST Scholarship Opportunities are posted on the FIRST Website. Some have application deadlines coming up soon. (Seniors, the FIRST Scholarship for Drexel University deadline is October 15th!) For more information, please visit: http://usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/content.aspx?id=18339.
“Why can’t I buy a Rookie kit if I want to?” Some Veteran teams have asked if they can purchase the Rookie kit—unfortunately, we cannot allow teams to do so. Bill Miller, Director of FRC, took to his blog to explain why: http://usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/content.aspx?id=18338.
Register for the 8th annual Women in Science and Technology (WIST) Forum!: FIRST and UNH Manchester will host the 8th annual FIRST WIST Forum on Friday, November 5, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The event will be held at FIRST Place and UNH Manchester, both located in the historic Millyard section of Manchester. The FIRST WIST Forum provides a unique opportunity for high-school girls to meet women who are professional scientists and engineers and to receive guidance through workshops, panel discussions, and interview sessions. Forum participants will also hear about college and university programs, and learn about resources available to help them achieve their education and career goals. For additional information, please go to: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/firstplace/content.aspx?id=18105
Student Team Information Member System (STIMS) is Now Open! The STIMS is where students apply to join their FRC team (students must reapply to the team each year), complete the 2011 electronic FIRST Consent and Release Form, and submit for the Chairman’s, Safety Animation, Woodie Flowers, and Website Awards.
Although STIMS is not open for awards submission at this time, students should apply to their team so their mentors can select the team’s award submitters. Award submission dates are located at http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/content.aspx?id=454.
Go directly to STIMS: https://my.usfirst.org/stims/site.lasso Returning students go to “Login”; new students go to “New Student User.”
