I listened in for the first call, and I thought that it was VERY helpful. I’m going to be one of the students from our team that is presenting, and I was pretty much clueless about the entire process before listening to this. I have a very good idea of what to expect now :
If you can get one of those 150 lines, I definitely suggest doing so.
Jeff Crosby does a really good job of describing the RCA process from the judges point of view. And Fredi also has some great tips from the other side of the RCA presentation.
Wow. This is quite the line up; from the longtime coordinator of the process, to the judge advisors, and from an award winning team perspective. Kudos to FIRST and the Senior Mentors for opening up the phones to help the teams navigate this process.
Anything is subject to change this year, but in past year’s Rookie Teams could (and in the case of NASA Grants had to) submit through the online Chairman’s application process. Rookie teams do not present in a formal style like other teams do for Chairman’s.
The judges will come .at least once, and perhaps multiple times throughout the weekend. Each of these visits is your opportunity to “present”. If you did submit something online, you will want to have a printed copy to give to the judges at this time.
This call was very well done. Lots of great advice.
Unfortunately it sounds like they were not successful in recording.
Maybe someone took “official” notes.
