FIRST foreign exchange student

What better way to spread the spirit of FIRST than to share it with a student from a foreign country? My wife is a local coordinator for CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange), an organization that places foreign exchange students in American homes. We hosted a student from Germany this year, and it has been a very educational and fulfilling experience. Right now, she has a German student that has specifically asked to be part of a FIRST robotics team. This young man has already participated in several engineering projects, and was a member of a FIRST Lego League team.

If you think you might want to share your culture, and that of FIRST robotics, with this, or any student, feel free to contact me and I will put you in touch with my wife.

CIEE places high school students, ages 15 to 18 in American homes. These students all speak English, and are top students. They are hosted for either 1 semester (5 month) or a whole school year (10 months). You only provide a place to sleep, and two meals a day (three on weekends). It is a great experience both for parents and kids.

We had a German student with us for the entire 07 season. Dom was such a cool kid, it’d be awesome to have another foreign team member for next year.
