I am thinking of starting up a FIRST IRC chat room on a friendly IRC server, but I wanted to check here for opinions first. Do you think this is a good idea? I don’t think it would take anything away from these forums, but it would allow FIRST people to chat casually in real time.
Please post opinions.
Thanks

I think it’d be a great idea. I’m not saying these forums are slow, but if you had any questions while you were working on your robot you could get an instant answer (assuming someone knew the answer.)

We had that a couple of years ago… it was mainly only me, Joe, Brandon and a few others that used it. Not many people like to take the time to learn IRC… I think a webchat may be better… check out the rambot’s page…

I’m usually always on IRC when I’m online…
So i’ll just be hanging out in #FIRST on EFNet too, i guess.
We used to have instructions on how to get on IRC.
They may be outdated, but if you have no idea what IRC is or how to get on it, you may want to check out the link below.
