FIRST kid on Pimp My Ride?!?!

I am watching Pimp My Ride right now on MTV and the kid says he was on the championship finalist team last year! I just thought that it is pretty cool how people in FIRST are just poppin up all over. Does anybody know the kid, or is he an active member on here?

Assuming that they produced the episode since last April (probable), and assuming that they haven’t left the Pacific time zone (I believe definite), that would place him on RAWC (as 25 and 195 are both on the clear other end of the country).

Not a definite answer, but it certainly narrows things.

I missed it but a fellow CDer mentioned it to me in an IM…

(3:05:31 PM) Rohith: OMG
(3:05:39 PM) Rohith: SOME GUY ON PIMP MY RIDE IS TALKING ABOUT FIRST!!
(3:06:00 PM) Me: haha
(3:06:05 PM) Me: is he on still?
(3:06:14 PM) Rohith: no now hes done
(3:06:18 PM) Me: boo
(3:06:19 PM) Rohith: he was describing AIM high
(3:06:35 PM) Me: Put it on CD;)
(3:06:43 PM) Rohith: nah
(3:06:49 PM) Rohith: its just a few seconds of it
(3:08:24 PM) Me: lol ok

Hahaha, I guess CDers are always monitoring the world to see public appearences of FIRST.

As for the team it i has to be a west coast team. If 25 and 195 are the only 2 teams on the alliance on that side of the country then he has to be from 195 because he said the robot picked balls up.

-John

You’ve got it flipped around–25 and 195 are on the east coast, while 968 is out west (as is Galpin Auto Sports, where Pimp My Ride is produced). And 968 could most definitely pick balls up (see also: A-bomb).

Yeah, that was Seth, an alumni from 968. He was our driver in 2002. When he told us he wanted to be on the show, we all knew they would choose him… he is such a unique character and a great guy overall.

I still havent seen the episode! Though I have heard some pretty funny stories. I have seen the car in person though, too… and must say it is… interesting. Not the greatest workmanship by any means. Definetly made to be hidden behind the cameras.

I don’t know where what teams are, I am bad enough at keeping track of the numbers!:ahh:

Well what do you expect for doing the whole car in a week. I don’t even wanna know how bad the paint job is. But If I were him I would take the monitors out and put them in my dorm. I think half the stuff they put into cars is useless. Why put LCD screens behind seats? When is he gonna just be somehwere where he is gonna be able to watch the screens unless he sits on him hood. But hey atleast they get the cars running better and not falling apart.

MTV is airing a whole lineup of Pimp My Ride Episodes today. Which one was this? The last one? We’ve got two more here (pacific time) at 2:30 and 3:00 PM.

It came on at 3:00 pm for the East Coast

i’ll hunt it down and find it for you guys whenever it’s on, btw, i wonder if that cotton candy maker is still working… just a thought…

I dont think he has used it once since they demonstrated it when they were filming the episode. Supposedly it makes an enormous mess and isnt worth the trouble.

So when can we expect 968 to start a new FIRST team in “Tijuana”? :stuck_out_tongue:

no wonder they don’t do follow up episodes…

actually, they do, they just run very rarely and often as fillers in marathons

Heh… I watched my very first episode of Pimp My Ride while in Atlanta… can’t say I was impressed. They turned a limo into a seemingly useless ride.

With the amount of money in parts they put into the cars it would be cheaper to buy the kids a new car. Which they actually did do for one person. They bought them a brand new Mustang.

-John

They bought some “poor” soul a Scion xB because their old car’s frame was two separate frames “welded” together. That was interesting.

By the way…do all houses have stained solid wood doors and hardwood floors in their foyer in California? I swear every dang person on that show comes flying out of just such a house.

I also always wonder if some of the people who get “pimped” wouldn’t like to have some of that space back inside their vehicles for, you know, some useful cargo space instead of $10,000 of instant hearing loss and pointless LCD monitors. I guess that’s why they created eBay. I hope the winners don’t have to sign a contract stating they won’t alter the cars after they get them…

haha… those cars probably last less then a year after they sling all of that useless garbage on them. I am sure that they don’t put a whole lot of effort in making the car actually last for awhile… other then that, that kid got pretty lucky, I wish my car would get “pimped”.

Someone out there should say the are LCD screen freaks, get 47 of them put into their car, then take them all out and sell them. Then they can go buy a 2007 or 2008 and pay cash for it.
