Today the Josten Class Ring salesmen visited our school. A group of us talked to the sales reps and showed them some FIRST brochures. They agreed to put the FIRST logo under the stone of our classrings. Next year they might offer the logo on the sides of the rings. Maybe they will do this if there is enough support—send Joston a message to do this!
In the past 4 years—we were always told that we would have to pay the $500 set up charge—but today the sales rep said he would pay for it!
We have to turn in a list of students wanting the logo, and when the rep comes to take order forms–they will put a special code on our order forms.
Another victory for FIRST.
Approach your sales rep about getting the FIRST logo on your classring. Our team is also thinking about getting team rings if we win special awards in the future! Maybe get rings just to be team rings too.
Great Idea, this is in the best interest of the Class Ring salesman as well.
Many kids do FIRST, and I know I would’ve liked the FIRST logo on my class ring:
Instead, the only thing on my ring that I have to remember robotics by, is a piece of stone that was eaten away by Methaline Chloride while i was fusing Lexan together. What fun.
Woa that’s awesome! I tried to get Jostens to do this at my school last year during ring orders, and the lady flat out told me that they couldn’t do that. Maybe the FIRST logo will now be an option on all Jostens’ rings.
They said that they only rings that could have the FIRST logo on it is the A11 and A12 (him and hers) Th rings range from $199-$319 for hers and $204-$349 for his.
They will have it available this year but only for those rings. You might want to try checking at your local jewelery stores maybe you can find it cheaper.
You need to all send your request to a corporate headquarters. Individual sales reps won’t get enough requests to think it matters. Someone should research the contact person’s name, address and phone. Post that information here. Then, from all over the country, everyone should send curteous requests to the same place. Get the name of the rep that is doing this already and tell corporate HQ what a great person they are. Then everyone else should tell Jostens about this great program that involves more than 20,000 kids from across the country and it is an activity in many schools, etc.

**Two years ago, Herff Jones (http://www.herff-jones.com) made specialty rings for a team with the FIRST logo embedded into the stone. Very cool. **
Last year when I got my ring from Herff Jones they told me they couldn’t do FIRST logo on it.
I just got an Ohm instead. But I would have rather had FIRST.
There was a large gross of championship rings ordered, and their stipulation was that they had to put the logo inside of a blue stone. The logo was metal only, no colors, but looked great against the blue background.
They were unable to have the logo on the sides of the ring, as is customary; maybe that is what you had asked for?

Oh yeah… our school’s ring carrier is Herff Jones… not Jostens  Still, they were like nooo… can’t do that, sorry. But it sounds like it’s possible if enough of us want it.
When Angela talked to the Josten Rep—she took some FIRST brochures with her. This seemed to help a lot.
I am the teacher from team 476, and I will get the sales rep name. My understanding is that the sales rep’s boss was the one that made the decision, he happened to be with the sales rep.
On Monday, I will have Angela post the contact name & info.
The customer is always right, and if all of you that read this could get your entire team to form a letter writing campaign, the company would be foolish to turn down possible ring sales.
Also, I told my team that in the event we should be fortunate enough to win a wonderful award, and they wanted rings—then we would do so. Hopefully, the FIRST logo would be offered on the sides.
We have been working the Josten salesmen for 4 years now—hopefully this will be the beginning, and other ring companies will see the potential market in offering FIRST logo.
Who knows—the ring salesmen might start showing up at the competitions.
I notified FIRST about this—so they would know.
Have a great school year, only 118 days till kickoff!

ZOLNIER CLASS RINGS TO OFFER FIRST LOGO ON SIDES OF CLASS RING
Hello everyone—
After dealing with Josten’s further, we wanted to find cheaper rings with FIRST logo.
I talked directly to John Zolnier of Zolnier classrings yesterday—he is going to offer the FIRST Logo on the sides of the rings, and his rings start at $125.
Josten’s rings start at $199 for women’s and more for mens rings, and they are only offering the FIRST logo on the stone.
A rep from Josten’s told me yesterday that the FIRST Logo MIGHT be offered on the sides of the rings next year—maybe
After discussing the situation of students all across the US and other countries wanting this offer—John said he would do it, I also gave him the contact info to FIRST.
He is also overnighting me some ring order forms because the Josten class ring salesmen are coming this week to take orders.
I hope this helps.
If only one ring company would offer this—then the others would see this, and they would follow suit.
Please call this company and tell them if you are interested.
I told them about this post–so tell them that you read it on the Chiefdelphi message board.
I hope that this works out for the best!!! My students are very anxious.
Best Regards,
