This is kind of a rant, but someone here might have an answer. So Ontario is one of the largest districts. I watch a lot of the streams for the events that I don’t go to. I’ve tried to watch some of the matches on TBA, but FIRST does not upload any of them. In addition to that, they have started to copyright strike channels who record and upload the streams. There have been some amazing matches and two of the best teams (1114 and 2056). I see so many other competitions where almost all matches get uploaded to YouTube and the matches are no where near as exciting as some of 2056’s or 1114’s.
Is it FIRST who is copyright striking it or the music owners?
Music owners.
Trust me we are working on it
This is the first year we are using Twitch streams and have a brand new streaming server setup at all the Districts. James Cerar and others have worked really hard to get that working great for us.
I am working with James and a couple others to get all the matches up on YouTube as quick as we can. Part of the challenge is we need to re-mux all the videos to remove the music so we don’t get YouTube take downs. We got our first set of matches uploaded last night, more to come: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIIc_TYWWqSrrvqpLwVLdmQ
Where are you seeing that music owners are striking the videos? For me, it says the copyright claim is by FIRST Robotics Canada.
Oh huh, i was assuming. Thats whack.
Why not upload to Vimeo like I’ve been doing for years without problems?
Vimeo is not supported by TBA.
The matches from Waterloo / Georgian / Ryerson / Durham are now uploaded: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIIc_TYWWqSrrvqpLwVLdmQ/playlists
We are working on uploading the remaining districts this week.
