FIRST-related quotes

Greetings, all…
i’m in need of some help here…i’m starting to develop a CD to promote FIRST in our area, and i really want to create something profound and meaningful…problem is, i’m no good at coming up with “touching” phrases. if anyone could help me out by posting some real nice quotes/words (along with their respective “owners”…) that have any relation at all with FIRST, i would really really appreciate it. you know, quotes that involve teamwork, science, determination, etc etc etc…something to really inspire

once again, thanks!!!

Camilla,
There are some great quotes in the links above and the random quotes at the top of each page are really great as well. I like these too.
An optimist sees the glass as half full, a pessimist sees the glass as half empty, an engineer see the glass as twice as big as it needs to be. (Unknown)
Youth is contagious and I want to catch as much as I can. (Unknown. I may have heard it or I may have made it up from another quote. I can’t remember, I’m old!)

I’m sure more than a few of us have said this, but I’ve coined it into my email signature:

FIRST, it’s more than just a sport. It’s a way of life.

That and,
FIRST: there is no second.

I like the last one, not only because of the incredibly corny play on words, but because it really shows that silly cliche we all learned in grammar school. Everyone wins in FIRST. You might not have a trophy to show for all your hard work, but the amazing things that you take away from the program are often enough. Think about all the hard work people put in and all the things you’ve learned.

I’m sure you can come up with more quotes from your own experiences too.

The greatest risk is not taking one.

FIRST … where you are the first to congratulate your opponents, and the last to criticize your teammates.

FIRST: The hardest thing you’ll ever love to do.

and a funny one that is exactly about FIRST, but originates from it
