This years edition of FIRST Robotics 2004 will air on the discovery science channel on Fri Oct, 1 at 9:00 pm. It will also rebroadcast on Thurs Oct, 7 at 8:00 pm. Tune In!
Cool… Thanks for the heads up.
Is that just going to be a summary of all the teams? Or is it more focusing on just one team? Where was the footage taken?
In 2003, they followed three teams around through the build season and their regionals and the championships. I assume the same will happen with this one.
Well, I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this. So it’ll be the first time … thank you for the news!
I’m going to put it in my calendar! :yikes:
Could this be the same as the one on TechTV since G4 bouth out TechTV and dropped the show? Probably not, but still, I’m going to watch.
I don’t think it’ll be the TechTV show…I remember seeing folks with Discovery Channel credentials on Archimedes.
I’m so showing this to the folks here in Preston. They all seem mildly interested by FIRST, so this should be a better intro than trying to explain a match video (not that that’s a bad thing).
Are we going to see any video of the One-Day Wonder?
I have a digital copy of the 2003 Discovery Science Channel program but it is like 500 mb. If anyone really wants it I suppose I can see how small I can make it but I would still need a place to put upload it to.
Thanks for the update. Just one question, are the times eastern? So I can adust accordingly for me here on the west coast.
Somenoe said G4 and TeckTV dropped the FIRST show…umm, not really sure what you meant but I watched this year’s competition on TechTV after G4 bought them…i have it recorded and the G4 logo is in the corner…
The times are eastern and once again they have followed three teams around.
After the merger, the series Let Er Rip was dropped from programming. The show on FIRST 2004 was the only Let Er Rip show to air. It aired just prior to the merger when the two logos were being displayed and in commercials. To my knowledge the show has not aired at all since the merger. If Discovery is doing something, it’s a different show.
wait…does anyone know if this will be broadcasted overseas??? or exclusively in the U.S??
we’ve got directv therefore the Discovery Channel as well but i’m not sure we get any live broadcasts…usually takes at least a week…
if anyone can help, thanks!!
Keep in mind that this is not on the Discovery Channel but on the Discovery Science Channel… two different things.
Ugghh… Yeah, after seeing this thread about 5 times I finally realized that.
ohh yeah…now i’m uncertain as to whether we have the discovery SCIENCE channel…!!! oh well
I know that iff you have DirecTV and the “total choice package” you get Discovery Science Channel. On my DirecTV system it just says “The Science Channel” in the lovely guide but the channel is really “The Discovery Science Channel” It is somewhere in the 200s by the regular Discovery Channel.
I know that last year they followed 3 teams and only focused on those three… they also failed to mention the Chairmans award winner, Woodie Flowers winner, and the National Champions, they just stopped when the teams they followed got knocked out.
I hope this year is a little less dissappointing!
I remember in nationals at team 56 pit there was a someone taping them and asking them questions. After they were done i asked someone on the team who was that and what is the deal with the camera. They answered that it is the discovery channel and they are taping them and i think the other team was 102 (not sure about this). With this deal for taping them that the team would have to build another robot after nationals. I never found out if they build a second robot or not, but i think team 56 and or 102might be on that program. once again i am not sure but i remember that in national with team 56.
The second team you mentioned should be 1002, the Circuitrunners.
Yes one of the teems is definitely 1002, i remember that much.
