FIRST Robotics Research Project Help Request from a Student from Team 3340 Magnegeeks

Hello, mentors/advisors of MAR robotics teams.

I am a student from Team 3340 Magnegeeks and I have a scientific research project on hand so I would like to request a picture of your robot’s drive chassis for 2016 FIRST Stronghold. If you do not have a picture of subject, I would like the following…

-The type of drive you used (ex: tank, R-T traction, swerve, etc.)
-If the drive is not a continuous drive chassis aka tank, please indicate…
-the type of wheel
-the number of wheels
-the size of the wheels
If your drive is a continuous drive chassis please indicate what kind of tread it is (ex: traction, mecanum, omni, etc)
-If you use a mix of wheel please indicate that, too

P.S. If you have the website from where you purchased the drive from that would be great, too*

I was the captain of 423 in 2016. We used a 6 wheel tank drive. The wheels were 8" traction wheels (1.5" wide) from VexPro with roughtop tread. We used a non-WCD version WCP SS gearbox. I’m not sure what you mean by continuous drive. The picture I attached is the best picture I have on hand.

EDIT: pretty much all of the chassis was riveted VersaFrame

225:

There’s a picture on TBA you can look at.

-Tank drive
-8 AM 8" pneumatic wheels
Most of the rest of the chassis was the Vex Versaframe system with some extra welds for strength.

Just to confirm, from my current data on your guys. Shouldn’t it be
6x8" pneumatic tires and 2x8" omni wheels
so 6 pneumatic and 2 omni?

-or-

did you guys modified the robot? If so what was your reasoning?

Thank you Team 5987 for your data; however I only needed data from teams in MAR(Mid-Atlantic Robotics) for my research project.

I said in my post that in 2016 I was the captain of 423 (from Cheltenham, PA). I since then I moved to Israel and become a mentor for 5987. The robot I described is 423’s robot.

Oh I’m sorry, in that case. According to my data your teams’ robot uses 6 plaction wheels

Well, they were the Vex equivalent of plaction wheels. Close enough.

433’s 2016 drivetrain:

  • 6 wheel tank drive
  • 8" pneumatic wheels from Andymark
  • Sonic Shifter gearboxes each running two cims from Andymark
  • C-Chanel Frame
  • PVC bar between the middle and back wheels to keep us from getting stuck on the rock wall.

Good Luck with your Project!

Thank You Team 433 FireBirds

8 x 7.65" (Nominally called 8") pneumatic wheels
Hubs purchased from AndyMark
Tires and tubes purchased from MBS (via Amazon)

Thank you 1712 Dawgma, my data aligns with yours.

That is correct, 6 8"Pneumatic wheels and 2 8" omni wheels in the rear.

My bad, forgot about the two in the back–Yeah, we swapped to 2 of the tires for omnis for turning reasons.

1257 used six 8" AndyMark pneumatic wheels.
