First off, we would like to apologize that these will only be available at the Boilermaker Regional, Midwest Regional, and Championships. It would be an inconvenience to sell anywhere else. Yet it may be possible to trade for one at other regionals, so don’t despair if you absolutely must have one!
Akey, Pluckebaum, and Wallace, from team 461, would like to present a design for a t-shirt about FIRST Robotics! The design will be as follows:
FRONT:
APW & Team 461 Present_
YOU KNOW YOU’RE ADDICTED TO FIRST WHEN…
BACK:
All you want for Christmas is kickoff.
You feel bad for last year’s robot because this year’s is getting all the attention.
You see a denim shirt and think “Dean!”
“Flowers” is a person.
Your study hall teacher keeps asking you why you don’t just transfer to the lab.
Your robot is your ideal prom date.
Machining oil and aluminum shavings become pizza toppings.
You clean your room and find the drill press chuck.
You know you’ll need a twelve step program when build season ends.
“Gracious Professionalism” is your motto.
END
These shirts will be available in three colors: Royal blue, hot pink, and light green. The writing will be white. Hot pink and light green will be available in child large through 2XL adult. Royal blue will be available in adult sizes only.
The price will be $10, no matter the size. These will be ideal trading items and fun to wear. Contact Akey at [email protected], Pluckebaum at [email protected], or Wallace at [email protected] if you would like one or post your name, the color, size, number of shirts, your team number, and the regional you will be attending on this thread. Thank you!
We will deliver your shirts to your team pit on Friday, so it would be simpler if each team would have someone who organized this and collected money who would wait in the pit for us to come. If not, make sure you leave money with whoever is in your pit to give to us when we deliver your shirt/s. We are sorry for any inconveniences that this may cause.
NOTE: We will stop taking orders on March 1st. Sorry for such late notice. If you do not get one ordered, don’t worry, we will be ordering some extras that will be available if you come to the pit for 461 and ask for Akey, Pluckebaum, or Wallace.
NOTE: DO NOT ORDER ONE IF YOU WILL NOT BE ATTENDING BOILERMAKER, MIDWEST, OR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Name: Eugenia Gabrielov
Team: 461
Competition: All of the above
Shirt Color: 1 Hot Pink kid’s large, 1 adult small light green (Uh, how big are these gonna be? I’ll put down two different shirts for now, just for kicks)
$20! Yay!
Thank you for the mention Karthik. I have a few classes with Andrea, Catherine and Katherine, and I’ll mention that to them tomorrow. They will then decide how to run their shirt stuff.
Everyone, if you’re interested in such a tshirt, chances are things will be arranged through our team website.
Please watch out for an update. Karthik: can you please explain if delivering those shirts is permissable providing payment and orders are made beforehand?
As Karthik stated, this is against the written laws of the FIRST manual. As for my interpretation of that ruling, I believe it is just so that no one gets in trouble for not having a vendor licence on the site. But who knows…
If you are keen to trading shirts, you would be making a great investment. I know off hand, that our team’s T-Shirts cost ~10 bucks so, if you did want to, you would make out like a bandit for all willing to trade shirts with you and the cost would basically be rolled into the trade…
Of course, this would require a initial 10 dollar per shirt investment on your part, but the possibilities are endless… Most teams have at least one person who will literally give you their shirts off their backs to trade for another teams. (That is how I got a BUZZ (Team 175) shirt in 2004 in Atlanta at the wrap party.)
If you planned on it being a fundraiser type sale, then you may have a problem… but if bartering is your game, count me in.
Regarding presales of shirts, let me know how you make out. It could be the technicality that allows you to have this as a successful fundraiser. The only issue I for-see in gaining approval on that is actually your use of the name FIRST. I *personally *understand that it is for marketing of the team, and should be no problem as in terms of (legal) use of the name, but like others have said, check with FIRST regarding that.
Whatever the case, be sure to let us all know the results.
Hey, I like the idea of having the shirts for FIRST robotics, it’ just to bad that I have to stay in Florida or else I would have to pick some up. Lol, Another thing, with the ability to not sell at the competitons, maybe you could open it to all teams running, say a PayPal or similiar system, or even check or money order snail mail system. I think it would be awsome and even though increase the price, I would gladly pay for shipping of a couple of shirts! Just an idea, and well a high hopes to happens, looks like good shirts!
This is Wallace. I will talk to Plucky and Akey abot the possiblity of having the money mailed to us and the mailing the shirts or delivering them at competiton. I will contact FIRST and check about the legality to delivering at competition. If we open it to everyone through snail mail the cost may go up a little bit due to shipping. Thanks to everyone for the information. We will be ordering a few extras so there will be a limited number avalible for trade at competion but that is not a garunteed way of getting one.
Wallace: I’ll be at Ypsi as well, and I can deliver some for you there if they get in early enough if you want. That may make shipping a bit easier for you.
You may want to wait to see which teams qualify for Nats AFTER regionals (by winning something or whatnot) because that could change who gets them shipped. :).
You could set up a paypal account, and just have people pay 10 dollars, and then go around and deliver them to the team’s pits on the first day of Nationals. That seems to be the easiest way to do it. I guess you could have people mail it too, if they don’t have a paypal account.
Also, if we could see what the shirts will look like ahead of time, that would convince me as to whether I want to buy one or not.
Thank you to everyone for the various suggestions. We are contacting FIRST to see what can be done and will post as soon as we find out. If all else fails, we will just trade them, but keep in mind that three of us won’t want fifty shirts of any one team, no matter how awesome the team is, so it would be best to pre-order. If you preorder one but we can’t sell them, we will contact you about whether we can trade you it for a shirt at that regional–sort of reserve you a trade. We’re still talking with the guys who would be making the shirts, so when we have settled on a final design we’ll see what we can do about posting pictures.
-Akey
We talked to FIRST and they told us that it is ok to deliver the the shirts at competition but we can’t recieve payment there. So I have set up an account at Paypal. If you don’t have Paypal e-mail or PM me. My e-mail address is [email protected]. So post your shirt order here and then send the payment. Thanks!
