FIRST Rules On Ipod

i believe this only works for the 4th edition ipods (with click wheel) and the mini

Ok Well call me a little hard core but i have figured out how to get the first rules on to my ipod. Its really simple, first open up the rules in acrobe acrobat reader. Then save them again as a .txt file. After that plug your ipod in, goto My Computer, and then Select your Ipod, it should say the name of your ipod, then enter the notes folder and copy and paste your new .txt file into the notes folder of your ipod. Then goto Extras on your ipod and then Notes, Pick the file that you did and read away. Its really handy when you need it on the run, since you don’t need to juggle a laptop or a bunch of papers.

 That is freaking awesome… ROCK ON!

Awesome, I’ll have to do this.

This is when you know your addicted to FIRST.

mmm, I cant get mine to save as a .txt Any help?

The notes folder has been available on all iPod models since the very first iPod.

By the way, the notes are limited to 4K in length, so you’ll have to split them up into separate text files.

And please for the love of Mac, it’s iPod. Not Ipod. Lowercase “i”, uppercase “P”. :stuck_out_tongue:

How do I convert a .pdf into a .txt?

To get around the 4K limit, you can save the note as a contact (if your iPod supports contacts). I would highly recommend iPodAgent from http://www.ipodsoft.com/softwaredetail.aspx?sid=1 for this, which can either split a text file into 4K linked segments or can save a text file as a contact.

I have attached sections 4 and 5 converted into contacts. Simply copy the VCF files to the Contacts folder of your iPod.

:frowning: And I thought having the game animation on my Tungsten 5 was neat…

I’ll have to do this. Good idea.

That’s pretty cool. Also, if anyone has an iPod that is able to display photos (the exact name for them, if there is one, eludes me right now), you could also store graphics of the field and maybe even of wire maps for your robot. That could be handy as well.

It’s too late for that… :yikes:

When you save it onto the computer, save as “___.txt”. Just go to the name bar thing and change the extension.

iPod photo. And yes, that would be supremely nifty

Dave

Hey, I already put the vCard version of the rules on my iPod. The Game works fine, but I think there may be an error with The Robot. All I get is the title when it opens up. Is anyone else having this problem?

I don’t have an iPod!! cry (Donations would be greatly appreciated, though.)

This is pretty cool. My birthday is in March so I shouold get an iPod just in time for competition.

That’s hot. Lucky you!

That is awesome! Thanks for doing this :]

I must begin by confessing that hte first thing I did upon reading this thread was to go and put the rules on my iPod, but . . .

Does it strike any of you that maybe, just maybe, we need to get out a bit more often?

Pocket PC with 1GB SD card?

Yeah, but does your pocket PC run linux?

If not, www.handhelds.org
