Unicorn matches refer to both alliances earning all of the total combined RPs (In this year, 9RP). So you need both alliances to be competent and well-rounded to accomplish a unicorn match.
That being said, there are some pretty competitive Week 1 events that I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen at least once (Looking at you BCVI)
I’ll be watching Arkansas in Week 2 for the 1st unicorn match. Small enough event and enough consistently high performing teams that surely there will be a match or two where the stars align.
Happy B-Day! (At least according to the little cake!)
I’m guessing the first one will be at ISR 1 and if somehow that doesn’t happen I’m confident it will at Pinnacles or Port Hueneme
Adding on to my week 1 prediction, it will happen if we ask the qual schedule gods nicely.
How many algae balls must we sacrifice?
You mean this type of unicorn match, right? https://youtu.be/OUatg-Ypp70?si=EP2TdBUmY9x01YUY
Are you counting RP assigned due to penalties?
Since so many people have voted let’s say “no matter how it happens”.
week 1 for sure
Pinnacles Regional is gonna be a banger
Agree, team 10101 will get it trust (jk)
I think it’s very possible for a single bot to solo every RP, it’s just a question of when it happens for both alliances. I’m hoping that’s at Hueneme though!
very bold take
correct me if I’m wrong,
but doesn’t the Auto RP require, by nature, all three robots?
And the Climb RP… isn’t it impossible to get 14pts climbing alone?
Only if they show up and aren’t bypassed. Which is most of the time, but for the sake of hypothetical, you can solo the Auto RP
You can conceivably get all the RP by just pushing dead team mates around. Personally I think it’s going to be pretty hard if their swerve drive defaults to X.
It still requires another robot, though…
Yes, it does.
Auto RP: Push both team mates off the line, then score anywhere on the reef.
Coral RP: Score required coral by yourself
Cage RP: Push dead team mate into the zone to park, then deep climb
