Does anyone know how to, or if you can, buy additional fisher price motors for projects outside of FIRST, and how much they would be and who to contact?

Fisher Price Power Wheels Service Centers don’t much care what you do with the parts as long as you pay for them
I think they cost in the mid 30’s (I haven’t bought any for almost 3 months now).
Anyway, they are not too expensive all things considered.
Use the ‘search’ feature of these forums to find a message directing you to the place where you can find a service center near you.
Good luck.

Technically the service centers are not allowed to sell the parts for use on anything other than FP products (liability issues). I wouldn’t brag about the fact your using it on a robot even though FP donated the motors! That’s not to say they won’t sell them to you, but if you tell them it’s for a robot they may tell you that they never heard you say that.

Noboby at the service center asked about using the transmissions for any particular purpose.
I just told them I wanted 4 transmissions from the Power Wheels Xtreme Machine and they told me how much to make my check out for.
As to liability issues, I can’t say. I don’t think that it can be too big of an issue because as I recall last year the 1-800 number would send you out a pair of spares for free if you got to the right person. It sometimes took 20 minutes of being on hold to get to that right person, but hey, free is free. The one kicker was it took 3 weeks or so to get them. Don’t know if they gave out any freebies this year.
Anyway, I doubt that there would be any problem using them in any way you want once you get them in your hands.

Maybe you could trade for some at nationals. I traded for some at our regional and I have some extras. If you can’t find some locally, just e-mailed me and I’ll see if I can get some to you.
