This could of possibly gone into the FLL area but I wanted many people to hear about this. Currently there is voting going on for 1 FLL team to win the Global Innovation Award. The winning team well be awarded up to $20,000 to help file a patent, work on a prototype and to hopefully get it out there were people know about it. Voting has already begun and will end on March 4th, 5:00pm ET.
Feel free to vote for any of the teams on there or you can also get a team to submit one if they haven’t already to have a chance as well. Team Submission ends on March 4th as well. You can vote once a day per IP address.
I would like though to mention a team that is located around where I am, the “Flying Monkeys”. I have been involved with the Iowa FLL Planning team this past year and have watched and seen this team at the regional event and at the Iowa FLL State Championship. This team follows the FLL Core Values and has been great to watch. When they were looking for an idea for this years game they came across a blog that this 3-year old in Georgia was born with missing fingers from a deformity. The team did research and worked with professionals to design a prosthesis for the girl. They then made the prosthesis with the help of some companies and then they shipped it to the girl down in Georgia which she was able to write with that hand for the first time in her life. I personally would like to see this team win(as this is posted they are currently in 2nd)the award but there are also plenty other great entries out there. I just wanted to share this so you can see what the different FLL teams are out there and to help one of the teams further their idea.
