In FLL, you start completely in in the launch area (the quarter circle). I was wondering, is it legal to have the robot drive into the home area (the black strip) as pictured while it does a mission?
As I understand the question, it’s perfectly legal. But if you touch the robot, you need to do another restart. (No touch penalty token taken away, of course, if you’re completely in Home.)

There are no rules prohibiting it so it is allowed. Just watch out for what Gary wrote about.
Make sure that you aren’t extending over the wall when you are going back in the home area because that is technically not part of home and would get a touch penalty.
